How do I co-ordinate my living room with this wallpaper seem to have a lot of the same colour
Comments (20)HI -- Well the wallpaper was just done so there is no changing that , soooo I think you should paint the rest of that wall the same white as the white background of the wallpaper and paint fireplace mantel too. Then have two small matching cabinets painted the blue from the paper or the leaf color placed on each side of the fireplace. . Then have white or glass shelves above , maybe three is best . Now the rest of the room painted the exact color of your sofa . Because the room looks small I think it would look best to have the sofa blend into the walls color wise. Now just keep some of your room accents in the blue color but not too much. Remember not to clutter the shelves and if you don't want the shelves then have a large painting on each side and have a big round mirror over the mantel and keep the small items off the mantel and onto the side cabinets ....See MoreHelp me choose a bed for guest room
Comments (30)Melissa, when I said footboard, I meant this. It has a portion of the bed that extends beyond the mattress edge. You posted a bed that had something at the foot section of the bed. By platform, I mean a bed that has a hard area and only a mattress on it. Like this. It does not extend beyond the edge of the mattress, but does not have a box spring. It is also lower to the ground. The picture you posted was a high profile bed and box spring. It was not on a typical bed frame. A standard bed frame, used with box spring and mattress looks like this. Virtually invisible and does not extend out beyond the mattress/box spring set. That being said, I'd recommend you get a headboard that is not too big for your space. Neither in height or depth (distance from the wall). I would also not get a mattress frame that extends beyond the size of the mattress. Sorry to have not been clear before....See MoreLiving Room Help With Everything!
Comments (8)From the looks of things, that really is the only place for the sectional. So...can you pull it out just a foot maybe away from the window? Move your tv over the stove if safe to do and try a big plant in that corner where the tv is now. Your painting behind some is way too big for that wall. Move to opposite wall. I would remove the black loves eat and replace with two reading chairs and maybe that end table you have by the sofa. For window treatments I just do not see drapes/curtains working in this room with that sectional....See MoreLiving room update - advice on fireplace
Comments (2)I think a rectangular fire could look jammed in between the bookcases, unless you can find a short one... Maybe you could simplify the fireplace by changing the backing board for a pale colour (not beige) and changing the surround for a really streamlined boxy shape. You could keep the mirror above. You say there's a lot going on - if it's possible to rearrange the items in the recesses in the two bookcases so they are more symmetrical, eg have some books on both sides, some candles each side and so on, it would give a "calmer" look? Another thought - normally shelving either side on a fireplace is recessed in the alcoves whereas yours are in line with the fire surround. If you had a fake full height chimney breast built and brought the fireplace forward (would only need to be the depth of the shelving) it might make the shelves look less dominant...See More- 4 years ago
