we have a small garden which doesn't drain well.
is covered in rocks and gravel currently. we have just installed a water feature as per photos and were planning on doing crazy paving with dichondra in between surrounding it.
we are worried how to remove the amount of rock and establish a bed for something to grow.
will this be possible cheaply?
Or what could we do? we do not like the rocks and want to add some greenery somehow.
any advice appreciated

5 years agoHi Jane, it will need quite a bit of muscle and a few trailer loads to remove that amount of rocks, they look like they have been placed well to form a wall, you could always plant among the rocks with succulents and use dichondra to trail over the edge and plant around your water feature for a great look, could look gorgeous and could be a real feature and those rocks may turn into an asset against that fabulous hedge.

Comments (4)I really think it's the plants that are supposed to be the center of attraction so I have a hard time thinking of anything better than painting the wall gray and the planters charcoal. However, trying to keep an open mind I did locate the photo above with yellow planters, which would be pretty against a gray wall. But looking at your very lovely blue door, I could see repeating that very same color on the planters and leaving the wall gray. It's always a good thing to repeat an existing color when it looks as great as that one does. Comments (5)What are we looking at to the right of the photo that's white? Get some annuals in the flower beds. Check the amount of sun you have and plant accordingly. You can mix vegetables and flowers. From your photo, and in order, I would get a canvas gazebo both to give you privacy from the neighbors and to block your view of their houses and the kids stuff. Mine had the canvas you could zip up AND screens. We had our table and chairs in there. It was really lovely and lasted many years. 5 years agoI don’t think you would have a problem moving it, from your photo it is hard to estimate the size of the area, you could remove some so that you could have a firm base for your crazy paving then add soil in between pavers to plant dichondra it will also be a more stable base for your water feature.
