A soft mossy or grey green would be my first impulse but Sarah's dark blue looks good. It depends on your kitchen ware. White porcelains will pop with the blue and earthy stoneware will go more with the soft greens. I'd add a shelf to extend from the cabinet across the tile and a pot rack or hooks over the stove.

Taupe and oak don't look good together at all as they're too close to each other so they clash. The colors that do look wonderful with oak and similar wood colors are olive and gray greens along with gray blues. We've been putting in a lot of wood trim so I've had to analyze this for the last several months. Taupe would look lovely with the black trim, also. You can go as light or dark as you like, but I like a medium tone. Paint a sample on the wall before purchasing the large amount needed to paint the entire house.

I would go for a stone colour so not too dissimilar to what you've got. Little Greene does a good stone colour too but will work out a bit expensive. This is Oxford stone by farrow and ball. If you were doing the windows and front door then maybe an old white with door and windows in french grey
