Where do i go from here? Needs a pop of colour but what colour?
Comments (13)I think your colors are restful so I would work with those and not pop a color. Maybe some interesting artwork that had some color in it, but I think you should go for a more elegant calm look. By the way, I like the chandelier you have with the fireplace. I think I would paint the lower part of your wall the same blue as is in the top part. Then I would add some black accents in glass and lamps. Curtains that have a sheen or gold thread would be nice....See MoreNew kitchen, but just not working.
Comments (448)fragle0 ... congratulations on the new addition to your family. Have been following your lovely changes. You probably won't have time to work on the decor for a while. Just wanted to suggest that you try pulling the nesting tables forward to be more in line with front of the chairs & placing your floor lamp to the back of them. This will give a bit more light at night for reading in that area. Also switching the plant by the fireplace & the one on the corner by the sofa....See Morehelp with living room
Comments (13)Thanks maumason I think you're right about the more vibrant pops of mustard yellow, and I definately need an area rug. I've photo of romans below, they're a charcol grey and the walls are a light grey. Blenheim I like your photos and do think white fireplace is nice with navy wall but I don't think I'll attempt to paint my marble fireplace! I do like that mirror in your photo and maybe something similar would look better than what I have. I think i've too much going on with the feature yellow on the fireplace and the canvas and perhaps why it looks out of balance. I think if I paintrd he fireplace wall light grey like the other walls, changed the mirror, and painted the wall behind the couch instead (maybe navy? Dark grey?) it might look more focused? I know sofa and chairs are a bit chunky and I don't love them, but will have to put up with them for another while. They are recliners and super comfy which is important for me though!! I do like my coffee table and tv unit, it's reclaimed pine and looks nicer in real life - perhaps it'l work better once I get my dream sofa!!...See Morefireplace dilema
Comments (9)I must admit I don't like it either, sorry.. Given the resurgence of mid century design you can probably sell it (or store it for next owner). I'd ring a salvage yard or try ebay. I don't know a lot about the 50s but it would appear tiled fireplaces were the style (I thought there were a lot of brick ones but apparently not!) but most people removed or had no fireplace. If you want to retain character I would suggest getting a really contemporary one rather than a fireplace from another period but that may just be me! Lovely room though...See MoreCarolina
