What type of stone is your flag floor?

I have a flag floor in my kitchen but find it difficult to clean. How do you clean yours and is it sealed? Much appreciated.

Jen, are you sure everything is in proportion? I'm asking, because that store seems to be just a bit wider than a door (so about 1 m) which is fine, but doesn't give much space to manoeuvre inside it. Also, a bit too many doors in a small space, but I'm afraid I can't offer you a remedy for that. You have two wide, massive windows and a door in between, I think that will give plenty of light. Personally, I'd just add skylights or a glass roof. Or a long strip of glass all along What you don't seem to have is ventilation windows. Trust me, you're going to want one in the utility, or at least a good fan. Transom style windows could work too if you can open them. I really wish you'd see an architect... there are lots of different, small things that a professional can spot from miles away that you wouldn't even consider. As I said, I regret we didn't; our house is great, but it could've been even better!

Hi @mjdpower, My suggestion is to go to a couple of floor specialist and ask as they may come up with something different. Whatever you do keep in consideration the size of the room and think on a long term: a poor quality finish could effect your property price in a space as important as the kitchen. I will try something that allow you to go back to your original tiles floor if things do not work out the way you want them to go. A cheap way is to cover the tiles with vinyl and here is how to do it: http://www.doityourself.com/stry/how-to-install-vinyl-flooring-over-ceramic-tiling#b the adhesive should not stain or damage the tiles (ask the manufacture before doing it anyway!) and you have a large choice of design and colours. Paint tiles could be another option, not my favourite but an option. I found this blog where Curry Kay describe step by step how she's did it. Hi. totally off point but.... Have you ever considered a real interesting eye catching piece of art work to really brighten up this area I think a select piece of art would really make the space stand out, add interest, colour, texture and add a great talking/thinking point to the room....
