Windows Bedrooms Design Dilemma

Shower room window

We’re planning on knocking through to the next bedroom to create an ensuite shower room and larger master bedroom (at the front of the house).However we’d like to keep the view and the window is quite wide. The width of the room is 2.2m. Any suggestions for the window? We’re not overlooked but there is a footpath behind the trees.

I take it you're thinking about being seen in the bathroom. Does it matter? Isn’t it nicer to have the benefit of seeing the view and the garden every morning? Why not just have a light blind you can let down if you really need it. There aren’t many occasions on which you might have people in the garden who can see in, are there? Parties? Landscapers? A gardener? And if the footpath is behind the trees they will be a pretty good screen in themselves. Have you even tried looking through the window from outside? The light reflecting off the glass keeps you from seeing much.
I have a busy bridle way just outside the house and have yet to see anyone trying to look in while I’m in a bathroom overlooked by it!

Have you thought of combining treatments? We do a lot of Hunter Douglas shades for privacy and light control coupled with stationary panels to give softness and luxury to the treatment. Combining textures such as woven woods provides interest both inside and out. Stationary panels allow you to have the soft treatments you want without worrying about the needed room for stack-back when the drapery is open.

No window treatments are going to give "total darkness" Anyone who sells you something and says it will is a liar. Even the best blackout shades installed with side channels will block (maybe) 90% of the light coming in a window. Call a local professional to come out to your home with samples to look at. Best options will probably be a double-cell honeycomb shade or a roller shade.

I have to agree that glass film is brilliant- we used Purlfrost online. You can either pre measure and they will cut for you you or you can buy a piece and cut to your own specs. It arrives rolled in a tube. We've done two rooms- the living room with full frost and the other, a bedroom- with just the bottom half of the window covered which looks pretty modern and sharp. It was supposed to be a temporary solution till we got shutters organised but it looks so effective and fresh that we've decided to save the small fortune that shutters cost! The help line was great- they recommended leaving a gap around the edge near the frame for a beveled glass effect which did actually work! You can get different levels of opaqueness - we used the less opaque for more light but still private- or patterns or stained glass effect. Its really easy to apply yourself too, and apparently comes off with no damage to the glass at all, so good if. Works out really economical as well. Can you tell I'd recommend it?! :)

I need some advice on how to dress both these windows in my living room. I have 5 windows in total including a patio door to the left. I looked into shutters but unfortunately the windows are too small to allow them to open out properly. This is an open plan kitchen, living and dining area and I plan to have a Roman blind on my kitchen window. Any ideas welcome
