Need help for window treatment for 2.5 metre by .5 metre window

Please advise me on how to treat a wide, high window in a very narrow room. It is a converted garage. My son wants total darkness. It should be white... I will be so grateful

No window treatments are going to give "total darkness"

Anyone who sells you something and says it will is a liar. Even the best blackout shades installed with side channels will block (maybe) 90% of the light coming in a window.

Call a local professional to come out to your home with samples to look at.

Best options will probably be a double-cell honeycomb shade or a roller shade.

Looking at the oak doors and baseboards, I'd say go for a warm white (no cream, but a bit tan or olive -ish). Neutrals will last longer too, regardless of the funiture and decoration you will use. If the dog is yours, I'd use my budget for a faux wood ceramic floor and worry less about furniture, replace the old stuff once you're lived in the house (hint: slip cover). And walls can be painted afterwards, so focus on the floor (and window treatments) instead of the furniture and start out with offwhite walls.

Hi, you have a lovely home! I read through your thread, and I like Dar Eckarts suggestion above the best. I think because of the symmetry of it as an H shaped house is symmetrical, and it would also keep the space looking decorated but still open and uncluttered which is what an entrance should be. Sorry, but I don't care for the bookcase idea in an entrance. I also noticed the masks you have, and think it would be great to decorate the space using them as inspiration. Here is a photo to show you the kind of rug I think would work here.

Melissa, when I said footboard, I meant this. It has a portion of the bed that extends beyond the mattress edge. You posted a bed that had something at the foot section of the bed. By platform, I mean a bed that has a hard area and only a mattress on it. Like this. It does not extend beyond the edge of the mattress, but does not have a box spring. It is also lower to the ground. The picture you posted was a high profile bed and box spring. It was not on a typical bed frame. A standard bed frame, used with box spring and mattress looks like this. Virtually invisible and does not extend out beyond the mattress/box spring set. That being said, I'd recommend you get a headboard that is not too big for your space. Neither in height or depth (distance from the wall). I would also not get a mattress frame that extends beyond the size of the mattress. Sorry to have not been clear before.

Morning You say that privacy isn't an issue so I would dress the main window and the small window on the left hand wall with roman blinds. I would mount the blinds outside of the recess t make more of a feature and not steal any of the light. Regarding the two narrow windows I would leave them undressed and get two matching vases, ornaments etc and place them on the window sill to make a feature. I think that blinds would be too fussy and would detract from the rest of the room. If you wanted privacy you could always add some frosting to the two narrow windows The furniture you've chosen is beautiful I'm sure it will look fab! Really hope this helps, good luck with the rest of your project!
