Plaster/paint Query

Hello Houzzers We recently got a property re-boarded and plastered and have noticed a weird bobbling/cracking of the paint/plaster. It starts of as a small crack in the paint which eventually splits to expose the plaster.
I've attached an image, not the best, to show what I'm talking about. many thanks, all responses highly appreciated

It looks like it hasn't had a priming coat which is normally a watered down version of standard paint. If it hasn't, this could happen in a lot of places. We had it in our last house.

If you take the damaged plaster away can you see a screw behind it? I have also seen the same - apparently it’s quite common when you newly board ceilings. The plaster over the nail that holds the board in seems to work it’s way loose. I’m not sure of the best way to fix it yet (I’m imagining some filler). I think they are called ‘nail pops’ if you want to google further.

@Jayme Hobbs .. thanks a mil Jayme I had been looking at a light grey colour but was afraid it might end up looking just whitewashed but I love the wall paint in the pic. @eagledzines.. I've attached the closeup of the counter, will look into changing the handles just to give the cabinets a lift. @Dannielle Lyn... I was actually looking at glossy black tiles this afternoon and thinking seriously about them so that helped thanks

Hi Divechick, No i love the layout, the kitchen is a good layout for using the dishwasher, fridge and cooker all close by., We have our plates and bowls in drawers which i love too.One thing we do need is more storage though. We are looking at knocking through to next room next year so the whole room will be wider and incorporate a utility. I think i will keep the general kitchen layout the same though but add more presses!

Gerty Werty: A mist coat was applied using a sprayer

Sarah W: I've taken a look at some images of nail pops and this seems to be the likely issue!

I'll try to look into some solutions for that!

Sorry for the confusion...i thought it was peeling paint not popping plaster. Yes definitely makes sense if the plaster is popping away. That is quite normal in a new extension/house. The movement causes a few screws to pop here and there. The decorator would be willing to come back and fill and paint if required I'm sure!
