Love the colour scheme in the guest bedroom. Can you tell me the make and colour of the green on the chest of drawers and the wardrobe please.

Lost Cottage has a beautiful colour scheme doesn't it? I believe the most similar colour to the furniture is Farrow and Ball Card Room Green.

Hi Lisa, nice sofa. I had a red sofa for 10 years and loved it ( though mine was fabric) I've changed the kitchen/ living room and it stuck out like a sore thumb. I gave in and put in a grey leather sectional one and I must say it's much easier to decorate around. Are you in Ireland? Have you heard of the 1933 company, they have very nice suites. Red makes a big statement! Just my 2 cents worth, good luck!

Okay..... I've been having fun! I've attached the links below for some ideas but my best advice is go onto www.notonthehighstreet and look at their cushions and bedding etc. A theme would be good. Is there something they both like such as animals or circus or are you looking for something for them to grow with? What colours do they like? Is your boy extremely boyish (no pink mum!), is your girl fussy or strongminded? (my 2 year old is!)If you can find one thing that you really like and they both do too then it gives us a starting point. I'm thinking along the lines of plain bedding, a matching cushion on each bed in bright multicolours or an animal and then another cushion and throws to blend with the feature cushion. Artwork could be their names in letters (hobbycraft do brown ones that you can paint) or maybe even wall decals. It's tough without photos or plans. I prefer to put outlets in the baseboards they are unobtrusive when not in use. Make sure switches are closer to door frames and not in the middle of a small space of wall. For a floor outlet. Lay out how you would have furniture in the room and plan floor outlets to be under a chair or sofa. Be sure to have switched outlets in areas where you may want a lamp to be turned on easily. Dimmers everywhere. Think where you would want switched lighting. Think about how you would use the entire space...where you would have furniture, electronics, lamp lights. Be sure to have outlets for a major electronic bank (such as TV etc.) (computers, printers, other electronics) in these areas, be sure they are on a separate circuits and nothing else is on these circuits. Put yourself in the house with all its furnishings and see how it all works...this is how it makes it all easier. Be sure cold air returns are not in the middle of ceilings or walls in major rooms, try to have them located to unobtrusive areas (halls & walkways & between spaces). Don't let them tell you they cannot. We designed our home, did the entire electrical plan, and we were the general contractor. Because we planned so well the process went smoothly. And we never had a "why didn't I think to do something different" moment.
