A15) @Dara Cooke: If you can't afford a quartz or granite worktop from day one then I would recommend using a laminate worktop as a temporary solution. If you don't put tiles up as a backsplash then replacing the worktops can be relatively easy in a couple of years.

All, Looking for advice from those who work in Kitchen Design. I recently finished my studies and am qualified Interior Designer (Higher Diploma BTEC). I am currently working at Kitchen Design Showroom. I was hired specifically do 3D Kitchen Renders / Presentation Packs / Face to Face presentation of proposed design to clients etc. I really love kitchens design and even though I am qualified designer, my course emphasis was Commercial Design (Hospitality / Retail outlets). I feel I have a lot to learn in order to feel confident to design kitchens (logical next step). Can anyone recommend good go to resources for Kitchen Designers - books, links? Am I best off learning on the job or do people think it would be worth doing a follow on Diploma specifically in Kitchen Design? Thanks everyone!

Walk-in pantry advice please. This is our design for our pantry. Walls & door placement can’t change at this stage. Dimensions are 2260x1410mm. Door opens clear of room. The depth of bottom units on facing wall is 60cm - dictated by integrated wine cooler. The depth of units on short wall is 40cm. All the above counter shelves are 30cm deep. My concern is the standing area (shaded in yellow). This is 1m across by 80cm to wall. Is this too small / tight? I can see 3 alternatives: loose the wine cooler& drinks cabinet go with shallow wine cooler. This won’t be integrated then swap the wine cooler & drinks cabinet to short wall. Problem is I don’t really want to do any of the above. I also don’t think the bottom corner unit is a great idea. Thinking of asking them to leave this open and possibly include a 2 shelfs &/or turnstile. Open to suggestions here too. I’ve mapped this out in my current house (2nd pic) but it’s hard to tell. Yes, in the netherlands soil pipes are preferably as vertical as possible, and internal not exterior, the basin and shower drains all go in there to keep it wet and thus stay cleaner. And electrical wire needs to go into 12mm pvc, so over here the wire under would require glueing 12mm fillers to the steel. Yours doesn't, so instead of rewiring, you might as well leave it and box it in as is. I guess having the white pipe connected to the soil pipe would make the most difference, as the box width would significantly be reduced.
