Back garden that needs some love!
Comments (2)A picture would be nice to view. I have a forgotten area in my yard as well. It became so overgrown with weeds that last year that after pulling out everything, we used a bunch of non-matching pavers we had left over from some jobs, and I purchased others, to create a sitting area. The next door neighbor's ground ivy has made a home in that corner of my yard, so we made trellises for it to climb on, LOL. We also built a paver fire pit and placed some benches on the patio, and around it. You don't need to use cushions all the time. It turned out to be an area my husband loves to sit in now. Around this now bricked-in corner we use annuals in various pots to add color. It still needs work, but everything around here is a "work in progress", LOL....See MoreKitchen redesign help needed
Comments (9)HI Sophie, Thanks so much for the suggestions. We would never have thought of moving the sink - I guess you get used to things where they have always been! Just so I can understand and visual where you suggest moving things to, when you say move the fridge down to opposite the pennisula, do you mean near the entry to the kitchen (where the small three cupboards are shown on the drawing above) or where the cooktop is currently? I know one concern that my mum has is that the width of the fridge will jut out too far into the kitchen, taking up too much room. I've attached a picture with dimensions on it. Keep the suggestions coming :)...See Moreneed some kitchen design help!
Comments (11)I love the tall units but you need to go straight to the ceiling to prevent dust and dirt settling on the top. I would put a row of small up and over cupboards along the very top as an option. Very handy for unsightly bulky items. I don't like the end open shelves by sink very dated but what you could do is a long double shelf all the way along the island with a wine racking either side for balance vertically. I think shelving each side of the sink would be better. You have a lot of cupboards but no deep drawers which are highly valued these days. Good selling point. I Like your colour suggestions... The little Greene paint company have a lovely grey so does farrow and ball. Where are you sourcing your Quartz and what flooring? Do your ovens have easy open shelf doors ..handy as they retract so don't get in the way as you take food out..Neff offer best ones. If you want a better balance of tall you could always do fridge freezer one side and pull out pantry on the other with racking. Then on sink side don't go all the way along the wall just have it as centred space so you can pull out larder doors. On your island you will need your bin as this'll be prep area? What is the room opposite tall cupboards? Need the island to look good from that side as that is what you will see. Hope of help. I'm embarking on the same thing and have spent hours and hours researching!...See Moreneed help with our extension
Comments (2)Hi David, If you could provide photos of the property that would be very helpful. Also, as jonathandb1972 said, any plans would be greatly appreciated here, so there is something to work with. If no plans available, even a crude drawing will be useful to help visualise the layout. What style would you like to achieve? (contemporary, country etc.). You said you'd like the extension to incorporate your current kitchen. What else would you like to have there, as it is going to be 2 storeys extension? Bedroom with en-suite? If you provide more information I can create couple of ideabooks for you to start with....See MoreSigrid
