need help with our extension

Hi we are in the planning stages of knocking an original rear extension to a mid terrace house and rebuilding, late 19th century. (Subsidence damage so best opton to replace)gross back yard area 8 mtrs deep X 5 mtrs wide. We would keep 3 mtrs deep by 5 mtrs wide as outdoor area, We would incorporate the existing kitchen rear of main house into extension. Extension 2 story for 50% of area and flat or sloping roof for balance and would like to incorporate roof lights in kitchen area etc. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated

Do you have a plan of your existing house for inspiration?
Are there particular issues you want ideas for? For instance planning, design, layout of new room, light issues, decorating, budget?

Hi David,

If you could provide photos of the property that would be very helpful. Also, as jonathandb1972 said, any plans would be greatly appreciated here, so there is something to work with. If no plans available, even a crude drawing will be useful to help visualise the layout.

What style would you like to achieve? (contemporary, country etc.). You said you'd like the extension to incorporate your current kitchen. What else would you like to have there, as it is going to be 2 storeys extension? Bedroom with en-suite?

If you provide more information I can create couple of ideabooks for you to start with.

I got one of those men who cares about EVERYTHING!! LOL Sometimes I wish he was like "most"....I'd have more butterflies myself. ;) We got a Rottie girl....we've rescued Great Danes for over 15 years but they just do not live very long....it's too hard....so we switched breeds. Thanks Jonathandb1972. That looks like a lovely layout I really like the open plan but our driveway around the house will come from the left side so that's why we had thought of addiing the extension to the right. I'm sure we could use your idea on the right side and it would still throw in plenty of light. Regarding the rooms: the long room to the right is the current kitchen which is currently very dark and cold, the small room behind this is the utility, the two rooms to the left of this are a front living room and back lounge. The rooms left of this are 4 bedrooms a bathroom, hotpress and outside toilet. Thanks again for all your suggestions.

Hi Houzz Community! My girlfriend and I have recently taken over my family's B&B. As it's now in the second generation we want to bring our feel to the home. We will be renovating the Kitchen in January 2019. We love bright colours with an environmentally friendly, greens, whites, greys, light browns etc. while also keeping it classy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Please view the pictures and thanks so much for your time! - The layout is shown on the drawing and attached photos - We use this kitchen to cook the breakfast for our guests and so everything in the kitchen has its purpose ( however doesn't mean things couldn't move - but it works now) - We think the table is quite large and possibly could make it smaller - seating area for 3 - 4 people - Do you think we could fit a small island with bar stools?
