Stand Alone breakfast bar

I recently moved into a new home which has a fairly large extended kitchen. The kitchen units are new but I would like to add a breakfast bar. I have been unable to source the original units / worktop so I was thinking of just adding a stand alone bar.

I have had a look around various sites but I haven't been able to find many suppliers. I am looking for something modern approx. 4 feet long. Can anyone suggest where I might look to source this? Thanks

If you are like me who cannot tackle the remodel on one big project expense, I would start with your breakfast table nook. Then I suggest working on the cabinets, and lastly changing the tile wall with or without counter top/sink update. An update of the faucet at the start won't be too much expense either. I am assuming you're not fond of the blue tile - wanting it to be in off/ white or grey tiles eventually. If you absolutely cannot live with the blue tile while progressing with the project, I suggest painting it like several commentators suggested as a temporary fix - just to get the pain out from looking at it :{) Otherwise, I suggest to leave it alone and save your money, time and effort. For the breakfast nook, I think additional storage is always an advantage like two commentators suggested for your wall by your table - using clean line metal/steel brackets and white shelves and wall painted with light cool grey in your ideabook. You can display not only kitchen items but also some artwork on the shelves to make it look uncluttered. I also like your posted ideabook for a bar style chair and table (Mal Corboy) but with low open back chairs for airy look (Kelley Gardner.) Assuming it is safe to cover your radiator panel (sic maybe - not sure of term), the wall end of table can be opened with cabinet doors on both sides or at least the one facing the boiler side. (Pls refer to 1st image.) For the cabinets, I suggest going up to the ceiling even above the window/sink - using simple panel doors with long sleek hardware just like Merry Powell suggested. Going up means less wall tile to change later in the project - an added advantage. I also think that painting the lower cabinet that same light grey as your wall also looks pretty just like in your Cucinabella Bella choice in your ideabook while top cabinets are in white. Just be careful which white shade you choose. A true off-white may not look good with the grey you posted in your ideabook. Your boiler corner can have its own two-door corner cabinet or 4-door cabinet if you paint the lower ones grey. (Pls refer to 2nd image). I am attaching images with edits using my unglamorous graphic 'editor' - excuse the roughness ;) I also included images posted in your ideabook mixed with my added images. May be a lot of work but have fun while doing it. I'm sure it will be much better looking each step you take.

With a sliding door, you can have each side different to match the style of the room it faces. Here are some ideas that, believe it or not, are done with sharpies on flat surfaces. I can envision a "fireplace" on the lounge side. On the dining room side, you could do the "double door" look, by putting half on the door, and half on the wall next to the door. So when the door is closed, it looks like a pair of doors, but when the door is slid open it looks like only one door (but it's the wall!) I added the 3rd picture just because I think it's so cool. I believe the only "real" thing in the room is the glass table/desk, and the filing cabinet.

How will you pose for your Miss Photogenic photo op? Will you go with the Carmen Miranda fruit bowl tiara? Or would the Easter egg thingamadooeys suffice? Decisions, decisions..... Maybe Grover could photo shop each one with your dress so we can decide? We wouldn't want to break any decorating rules because we do have our reputations to uphold. LOLOLOLOLOL

No, ask away :-) I'm not a pro though, just kind of passionate about design and interiors and all that :-) Great cabinet. I'm really not opposed to mixing metals. You'll get a more eclectic mix. It is the result of going with what you love and not with what you think goes with something else. And that will give your interior your own personal style. Matter of taste. Some people really don't like it. Others do :-) Go for a fairly large coffee table. I would think at least 100 cm wide. Tape (news) paper together to the size of the coffee table you like and lay that on the floor. It will give you an idea about the scale in your room. You need it to be easily reachable from the sofas, since you have these high armrests. And your room can take a large table. If you can't find a large one you like, you can also think about putting together 4 smaller square ones for example. The one with the metal base (I took two from the Soul Lifestyle site) is on the smallish side. The black one is larger. Round fits nicely with the shape of your sofas. Not sure if I mocked up the sizes correctly, but I think the lovely side table is too small. The lamp is about 70 cm tall (again, I guestimated the size), but it does look small on that low table.
