9 years agoWhat about both? Cream on the bottom cabinets and grey on the top cabinets.
What colour countertops, walls, tiles and backsplash. Choosing them first will help you to decide on your cabinet colours.

Comments (5)thanks for posting the photos. First, I feel like there is a mix of styles in the design that aren't really complementing each other. The waterfall walnut frame around the frig and wall oven areas is VERY modern. But the rounded front cooktop/bar, the divided light glass front cabinet doors, and molding on the upper cabinets are very traditional -- maybe even a bit 'cottage'. The looks are fighting each other IMHO. Also, I would reconsider the placement of the wall ovens -- they seem very crowded back in that corner. And the range hood going to the ceiling but the cabinets stopping short looks odd to me. Maybe a different hood with a narrower chimney would look better. And, is that the dishwasher on the island? --- Yikes -- I would want that right next to the sink (otherwise you'll be dripping water all over the floor everytime you load it)...See MoreNeed help - kitchen design new build
Comments (3)Ok, first of all I think we have very similar tastes because I looked at the pics you tagged in your idea books, but this layout is not efficient at all. your working triangle is non existent and I think there is way too much crowded in one corner. The island is staring out into nothing, and definitely needs to be rotated 90 degrees and I think the shape looks like something you would see in a bar. I am currently doing my own kitchen in two shades of painted cabinetry and will post my drawings and actual images, and then some images that you might like. I think the sink and DW need to be in the island. The fridge needs to be integrated to avoid this much stainless steel since you clearly like a more eclectic, non modern look, and the hood can be more elaborate. I personally think a 48" range with a dramatic hood on that back will with the island turned the correct way will be a nice focal point for your kitchen. You could also do a microwave drawer in your island, that way you only see the range from the front. Also, where is your pantry? Where are you storing food? The second image is a range hood you will probably like The third and fourth are drawings of my kitchen, and the first is a painted on painted kitchen with whimsy you might like. Comments (3)There's a lot of cream/same colour in that room. You could contrast or offset. Try glass fronted wall cabinets in, say, blue. Or open shelving to display pictures, books, colourful jars etc....See MoreNew kitchen
Comments (5)You should probably think of the floor covering in the overall plan as a light colour or dark colour may have an impact on whether you choose a light or dark colour for the worktop. Two different worktops, one on the island and one on the rest of the units might look well too. I like timber for an island but only if you don't need the worktop to be heat resistant and it's not near the sink. We've picked a dark grey for our island and will probably choose an off white worktop with a vein in it to contrast with it. Good luck with your decisions!...See Moremyperfectadvice

9 years agoI love it! I am having the SAME dilemma. I'm also leaning shaker. Was all about the cream, but with all my cream-trimmed doors, FP, etc, I'm starting to think, meh. I like the idea of mixing, first pic was WAY too washed out, liked the ones with more contrast better. I am a little worried about the trendiness of different colors on top and bottom, more inclined to contrast on the island? Here is the pic that changed everything for me, problem is that I can't find a similar color in medallion, which is who my contractor works with...

9 years agoReally nice combination. Cream really warms up the place as well as i was worried that grey beeing a cool colour might make a place cold. I live in Ireland, lots of rainy days so can be depressing!! Im just not sure if im adventures enough to mix.
I will be riping all existing tiles and floors as they r just wrong! Its a house we bought this way

9 years agolast modified: 9 years agoYou might also consider more colorful cabinets. Gray is a bit of a trend, so it may also look dated faster than white or cream. But if you want something cheerful and unusual, but not necessarily trendy, some of the softer colors (particularly yellows, sagey greens, and aquas) can be beautiful.
