I absolutely love the rounded top of this window. Since we're planning on remodeling our living room soon, my husband and I are looking for the perfect products to use to replace our old ones. I think you're right to change your plans tbh, I think pic 1 and 3 would work. Another option is a suspended woodburner. It's obviously not a divide but it gives you the break in the ceiling so acts as one. The first one attached is from fireplaceproductsUK. The other 2 are just images from leotrippi and homedesignht to show how they can act to divide a room. A much more expensive option is a glass fireplace, this is from acucraft fireplaces. I'm not sure how easy it is to find UK manufacturers/suppliers though. Alternatively you can just break the room with furniture layout and ceiling lights. The lights if hung properly ie at differing heights, clusters etc along with floor lamps will stop that cavernous feel. I can't obviously see the plan but if you're really set on a divide, and they are great!, you could set it off a side wall rather than down the centre of the room.

I have to agree with nudejude regarding the upholstered furniture sizes and positions. The room looks long and narrow, so placing 2 chairs or a 2 seater sofa opposite another 2 seater would allow you to enter through the door and walk, unrestricted, through to the opposite end of the room. An area rug between the sofas, large enough to fit under their front legs and perhaps a clear coffee table in glass or Perspex between would make a great conversation area. There may be enough length to the room to use a console table behind the sofa nearest the double doors with 2 small occasional chairs. A pair of lamps would provide light for the sofa and for the chairs. If the chairs are needed, they can be brought into the main conversation grouping. A Roman blind, with or without the curtains, would set off the window. Throw cushions in a variety of patterns and colour, will add interest to the upholstered pieces. Good luck and enjoy your home.

My kitchen (a second small one) in a Georgian house has old terracota tiles 6 inch square, which I have recently had polished and want to keep. The area is approx 12 ft square with 10 ft high ceilings. There is a large Georgian window on two of the walls, with an entrance door on the the third wall and a fireplace on the fourth wall, into which I have managed to put a cooker, with two built in cupboards either side of it. I need a sink, integrated washing machine, integrated dishwasher. The walll with the door is plumbed for water, but it could also go on the adjoining wall under the window ?? Please any ideas would help, also colour scheme. I am normally good at this but the dimension, ceiling height, tiles have thrown me a bit on this one ! Appreciate your suggestions. Thank you so much

hi All I am looking for guidance for a Plantation Shutter for this Bay Window. Here are the dimensions: 2070mm (W) x 1440mm (H) (Main) and 690mm x 1440mm (side windows) I am looking for advice on 1. How many Panels (Doors) do you think would look best on the main window/ sides? Window company strongly suggested 3 Panels and not 4 or more for main and 1 panel on each side. 2. Do you think Cafe Style is a bad choice - the window company advised me against it as they said people will still see in. As a compromise I am considering Tier & Tier (3 Panel) on their advice. My concern with going with what I was advised by the Blind Company ( Tier & Tier 3 Panel - with long panel on each side) are the following. a. When side Panels are open they will extend into room which I think might look odd. Would it be better to do 2 Doors/ panels? b. Will doing Tier & Tier only in centre and not on the side windows look strange? c. Given my dimensions, if I do Tier & Tier with 3 Panels/ Door, then each Panel is almost a square shape. I believe it will be 690 mm W x 720mm H. I would love any advice as the quote is pretty expensive which I don't mind if it looks amazing when done! The overall look when room is complete is a little retro, - I like the horizontal line of the blinds - I will probably not do the vertical opening/ closing feature at all. My aim is to not block too much light (west facing) and to open the blinds back to let sun in morning as I will have relaxing chair in the window area. Any tips, items to ask about would be very appreciated. Thanks!!
