Kitchen Hardware - Brass pulls and knobs yes or no?
We are going with a white linen shaker cabinet. The kitchen is open to living area and breakfast nook.
Our tile selections are below and consist of a vein cut limestone subway backsplash, a quartz marble look counter top and a warm grey floor tile (can't do wood). I will be bringing wood elements with the stools and table in the nook area. Living area has wood and brown leather chairs.
I am trying to bring some warmth to the cooler elements and thought brass would help do that.
What do you think? Should I do brass or go with a polished nickel?

Comments (16)My 2¢ worth: first of all replace the dark blinds with translucent cordless single cell blinds in ivory or off-white--they let light through and provide privacy + some insulation from cold or heat. Clean, crisp look.That alone will brighten up this space. #2: clear the counterspace!--so much clutter! Where to put all these appliances that get little daily use? Get yourself a ss 24x20 or larger cart on wheels (see Amazon.com--Seville classic ss cart) and store little used, bulky appliances on its shelves--and roll the cart into a nearby coat closet--out of sight and way-- to be wheeled back when needed or individually carried back as needed. 3#gorgeous blue tiled walls.Don't touch them. #4:Walls: keep as is if off-white--not same as trim white white.Just a fresh coat needed.To make it "disappear," paint the radiator the same color as the wall behind it. #5Keep the white trim white--looks bright and clean.Keep kitchen door white. You might want to stop here and make no further changes #6Cabinets: I like Gast pic above on right, but too much blue for your blue-tiled kitchen...IMO. I'd go cooler and lighter...consider the light gray of the beadboard in the Gast pic above right. Beautiful hue. Don't go for the white white everyone clamors for these days.Too stark for your kitchen and too contrasty with the blue tile, too country kitchenish. #7. cabinet hardware: Look like glass knobs in pics. Go for knobs/pulls like in the Gast pic above--or similar in pewter or ss, my preference. Those "modern" ss bar handles don't work with your cabinets. #8 the round table is not a good fit against the wall. Get a small sq or rectangular ss or butcherblock-top table for that spot. Chop off the top tier of your chairs to shorten....and match their tops as they are now so's won't appear to take up so much visual space and still remain comfy--don't replace w/ uncomfortable stools.Keep white. #9. Do away with wood valance over sink window.Too country. #10 Countertops--solid color Corian type or laminate--depends on budget--don't want busy stone textures of quartz, etc. Consider a medium value cool gray. (Or maple butcherblock?). Can't see color/texture of floor.... hope some of this helps. Comments (5)I'm not sure if your walls are a "peachy" earth tone????...."if" so orange/turquoise are really in right now and could certainly brighten it up for you....I've recently gone through the same thing with our home in FLA ....the walls are a yellow + pale turquoise accents but adding orange/red to the room would have been the last thing I would ever have thought of + we centered the light fixture so that it was centered on the wall and not off to one side like the previous owner had it....you can see from the "before and after" pics what a huge difference it made...one thing leads to the next....the new chair covers I made a huge difference too but it was quite the job!....I didn't add a lot of orange/red but to us it made a huge difference...See MoreMixing antique brass and polished chrome in the dining room & kitchen
Comments (16)What I'm actually wondering though is about mixing the metals - so having the chandelier and lamps with the touch of silver - or would I be better to source antique brass lamps like I have in some other rooms in the house - I kind of wanted to feature quite a bit of glass, and generally the glass comes with chrome, but I'm not sure if it's too modern for the sideboard etc, and mores worried about the clash of metals, but something tells me it might be ok in this instance! I have chrome taps and rainfall shower head in new bathroom and kept with antique brass for the light fittings and door/press knobs. Comments (16)www.visioninteriors.ie Looking at your curtains and curtain pole, in my opinion it is the pole that initially needs to be corrected - it is a nice steel pole,however the importance of a pole being fitted correctly makes a huge difference to the hanging and look of the curtains. the brackets at each end of the pole should be at least 8"/20cm away from each sides of the window, this allows the curtains to frame the window nicely while letting in as much light as possible. The brackets should be 2"/5cm away from the finial ( ball end in this case) at each end of the pole. The space between the bracket and the finial (end of the pole) has one curtain ring only and the rest of the curtain rings/hooks are the window side of the brackets so that the curtains can hang straight. Whether you buy new curtains or hold onto your existing ones check out the fitting of the pole and remedy it - you will be amazed at the difference this can make....See More- PRO

A wise choice for counter in simple white quartz! Your look will be
modern and I think you love your back splash more than the marble selection : ) Go for
it !A subtle dash of wood, a bit of WARM AND SOFT brass accent, and I think you will be as "inspired" as your photos!

7 years agoI am waiting on the pure white counter sample for my modern look, but have also pulled together a more traditional look.
How about these? No backsplash yet but thinking some sort of subway or white arabesque. I also like the silver encore crackle. White square is cabinet color. Rectangle marble counter and wood look tile.
