Comments (4)shelly12345...not sure if you have completed your fireplace/room, just saw this post while looking for help with my own family room. I think would paint the fireplace and mirror white...would match the trim work of your room and your lighter furnishings. Something that was suggested to me...use some fabric or poster board to cover the wood on both, just to give you an idea of what it would look like white. That way you are not committed once the paint has been applied to the wood. I love Dytectur's idea of wallpapering the room and having the fireplace wall white. Would really pop! Good luck and post pictures if your finished or when you finish....See MoreChange living room layout
Comments (4)Put the tv in front of the rear windows. Put the 2 seater in the middle of the room facing tv near fireplace. Coffee table between tv and two seater. leave the 3 seater on the same wall but closer to pianos current position. Put piano in suggested position. As for the bay windows a nice small round table with two chairs. A place to sit and have a drink and listen to music and look out the window...adds intimacy....See MoreWhat size mirror over fireplace?
Comments (7)Rule of thumb is usually 2/3rd's the width of the mantle is a size that will look comfortable. Over mantle mirrors do add a 'finished' feel and look very sophisticated but it depends what style you're really going for. I quite like the window style mirrors you can get now for a twist on the traditional over mantle mirrors. Can tie classic to industrial or mid century quite happily....See MoreWhat size round mirror over my fireplace?
Comments (0)Hello there. I’d like a change from my over mantel mirror which I feel is out of proportion. The width of the mantelpiece is 140cm and the height from the mantel shelf to the coving is 108cm. I’ve got my eye on this one from Laura Ashley which comes in either 60cm or 100cm diameter. I’m drawn to the larger size but that will mean probably resting it the edge on the mantelpiece because of the restriction of the ceiling height. Would this look odd with a round mirror and do you think it would even suit my fireplace? Many thanks....See Moreskiiergal
