Our pool and equipment were installed in the 70's (San Francisco Bay Area). I would like to upgrade to a more modern and efficient, automated system incorporating the existing solar and gas heater (solar is currently on a timer system, gas turned on manually). I'm thinking a variable speed pump, with a temperature-based controller to run water up through the solar when it actually heats and supplements with use of the gas heater to maintain a comfortable water temp. Also, we have a separate spa, that can be heated when required, but a system that permitted remote pump/heater activation would be nice. Suggestions on brands/models of controllers for this purpose?
