If it all fits in then why not. I don't think the desk will go with the bed or maybe it would work it the desk was painted. Do you need the desk or could you use a smaller console table for working/doing things from ? Not a fan of sliding doors would rather swop the door so it opens the other way if space is an issue. What is going on the shelves are they needed ?

HI Sophie, Thanks so much for the suggestions. We would never have thought of moving the sink - I guess you get used to things where they have always been! Just so I can understand and visual where you suggest moving things to, when you say move the fridge down to opposite the pennisula, do you mean near the entry to the kitchen (where the small three cupboards are shown on the drawing above) or where the cooktop is currently? I know one concern that my mum has is that the width of the fridge will jut out too far into the kitchen, taking up too much room. I've attached a picture with dimensions on it. Keep the suggestions coming :)

I am looking for some ideas for shelving the alcoves beside our fireplace. I love the black, classic ornate detail on the fire surround and the coving so I would like to compliment that style. I will be removing the dado rail and painting the room also. I need shelving/cupboard for the television on one side as you can see. I would like a spot for a lamp and accessories on the other side. Has anybody any tips for me? Any colour suggestions? Should I keep the walls light to let the fireplace stand out?
