Hello Ron, we have a shut off valve on the bottom portion of the fire pit, I've included a photo to illustrate this location of the on/off key valve. You can see the chrome key valve just to the left.
If it's natural gas you should have a shut off at your outlet box attached to your house. If it's propane there should be a shut off at the tank.
Our units are sold as match lit units but we do offer an electronic ignition system for an additional cost. These can be used with a wall power switch (just like turning on a light fixture) or you can get a remote control to light your fire. Note that if you want an electronic system you will need to bring power to the fire pit as well as the gas you are using.
