New kitchen
Also I bought some new bar stools which I think look ok. My husband isn't so sure that they go and thinks which should stick with our old wooden ones. I have attached a photo of both. What do you think looks better?

8 years agoI like your new bar stools. What is the window made of? Perhaps you could paint with a black frames to match the legs on the stool. If that's not enough ( and it probably will be as the wooden frame matches the door, then you could opt for painting the wood dark grey to blend in with the kitchen more.

Comments (5)thanks for posting the photos. First, I feel like there is a mix of styles in the design that aren't really complementing each other. The waterfall walnut frame around the frig and wall oven areas is VERY modern. But the rounded front cooktop/bar, the divided light glass front cabinet doors, and molding on the upper cabinets are very traditional -- maybe even a bit 'cottage'. The looks are fighting each other IMHO. Also, I would reconsider the placement of the wall ovens -- they seem very crowded back in that corner. And the range hood going to the ceiling but the cabinets stopping short looks odd to me. Maybe a different hood with a narrower chimney would look better. And, is that the dishwasher on the island? --- Yikes -- I would want that right next to the sink (otherwise you'll be dripping water all over the floor everytime you load it)...See MoreOur new Kitchen
Comments (8)Hi Divechick, No i love the layout, the kitchen is a good layout for using the dishwasher, fridge and cooker all close by., We have our plates and bowls in drawers which i love too.One thing we do need is more storage though. We are looking at knocking through to next room next year so the whole room will be wider and incorporate a utility. Comments (0)We've finally decided to change our dated kitchen and currently not using the space correctly. Both myself and my partner have been discussing ideas, layouts, colours, etc., over the past 2 weeks and we just seem to be going round in circles! We need a 3rd party to come and advise on the best layout for us. Should we get an external interior designer in to provide advice? Or will a kitchen company provide this to us? Should we visit showrooms to choose a design? We're clueless as to what steps to take to choosing the correct kitchen and layout, so would love to hear from anyone who has gone through this recently. 8 years agoHi. Plantation Shutters would really brighten up the window and the kitchen overall. See below photo of one of our installations for an idea.
Depending on whether you would like to cover up the wooden surround on your window, you can choose different architraves for around the shutters.
I like the new stools - they give the island a great new look.
