Oh, that's a good idea. A plain colour or with a pattern? Do you think the sofa is right....I have my doubts about it. The shape may not be very modern and the house is modern. I just want to make sure it's cosy.

I don't know whether your family enjoys watching the weather the way mine does. Often we will go sit on the porch and watch storms approach and enjoy the lightning show and thunder. I find that having a big window to watch the weather out of makes me appreciate being snug and warm on a cold winter day when the snow is falling. It is also nice to have deep windowsills I can place my plants on where they can get sun. If I don't have deep windowsills, I like to have a built in bookshelf or something under the windows to give me that space.

It makes me cross that people think they have a right to make some quite negative comments on this post. Masmccar76 put these photos on because she thought people would like to see a genuinely lovely transformation of her garden. Instead there have been some downright nasty comments. By all means make comments but keep them constructive. Houzz is all about is sharing ideas, not about being nasty

Hello niamh6426, A nicely proportioned set of rooms.. Lovely features, nicely done! Bring the sofa in the opening further into the room so it doesn't block the flow... Ideally move it away from the french doors? So a few things to suggest here.. Why not paint above the picture rail the white to tie in with the ceiling.. the lavender and sage work nicely and so it really is which you might want to pick out.. I'm thinking of the chimney breast to bring it out into the room with even more focus..... A deeper purple/grey, charcoal or deeper olive green ... With any of these colours you could have some light charcoal accessories... Silk cushions etc.. The colours would also work with the existing wall paint. Rather like the charcoal colour and it would work with a slightly darker greyish purple too, so throws and other cushions could be also very complimentary.. :))
