Island

Hi. Does the island remain immobile despite its wheels when necessary? Where can I get it? What width kitchen would take it- ours is 14' across?

Hi I am so sorry for not replying to your enquiry, for some reason it did not appear in my in box. I assume its a little late now but just in case not yes the unit is immobile (ish) as long as you use wheels that lock. I had this unit made using standard kitchen units, mdf a bespoke top and castors from a local DIY shop. Pls. note you have to be very careful to get the balance right so that the whole thing does not top over.

You may be making your lovely new kitchen seem rather cramped. Go for your eisland and you can always add to it later. Alternatively place boxes where both will go and this willgive you a much better idea than on paper,

There will be plenty of room for you to have an Island within your Kitchen / Diner. I would possibly look into a maneuverable island rather than a fitted, to ensure that you have ample space should you cater to more than 6 guests. (I've attached a Layout). Quartz island with laminate bar/overhang

We are about to put in a new kitchen with an island. We really like the idea of a raised bar/overhang with a wooden effect but don't want the care involved in real wood. The guy putting in my kitchen is advising that the laminate might cheapen the kitchen. Can anyone help? I've seen it in a few showrooms and do think it can work. Thanks.

I wanted to put in the title - "Does Size Matter?" because that is what my design dilemma is all about :-). So I have learned that my kitchen design in the new build of my townhome has resulted in my kitchen island having a seam in the countertop, which I am not a fan of, and wanted to get your thoughts. I am told by the kitchen company that if I do not wish to have a seam, I would need to shorten the island to around 118” in length, which means I would lose around 20” of countertop (10” on either side) and one full cabinet. Seam or shorter island? Thoughts?
