You need some kitchen accessories kettle etc that tie in with the red and also some artwork. The red you have chosen looks on my monitor to be a cool red, perhaps a bit of a warmer shade would help. i would also extend the dining area curtains down to the floor, they will cosy up the space, as would a statement rug to give a bit more life to the room. If your living room is green then it may be nice to have some token green of the same shade, somewhere in the kitchen, a plant or some artwork, and add a bit of the kitchen red to your living room, so that there is some continuity of colour in your home, as opposed to having two separate colour boxes and never the twain shall meet..

I have just bought my first home and have had 3 jobs done so far. I have felt totally overwhelmed and unprepared for the questions I was asked and decisions I had to make, so hoping I can get some advice before the nest job! I am single without anyone who I can really ask for help so apologies if these are stupid questions! Kitchen Makeover; the kitchen is fine but not to my taste. I want to remove the wall units and put in shelves, remove the wall tiles and re-tile, lay new floor, spray the cabinets, replace the counter tops and sink. The thing is I don't know what order to do it in. My guess: Remove wall units Re-tile/paint Respray cabinets Replace counter tops & sink Lay floor If anyone can let me know if I am on the right track that would be great. Thank you!

Hi, I'm building right now and struggling to decide on what to about bathroom vanities. I have a guest w.c., en-suite and main bathroom with double sink area to do. The selection in shops are doing nothing for me, apart a vessel sink on shelf combo, but that would leave me without storage. The house is modern but I dont want gloss units. I like the look of real wood but the selection in shops are more suited to older houses. I asked a kitchen maker if he could make something in wood, but with modern flat panel door - rather than shaker - but he said real wood would warp and only does veneer. I've asked him to quote for same but not sure now. I've seen so much I've confused myself and now I'm second guessing. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi there, my husband and I are embarking on a self-build and we're in the early stages - have sketches but not formal drawings from our architect. This is going to be a small starting point because we have a small budget, with plans for extension in the 5-10 year range. The site is in a rural part of Wicklow, so there's no traffic as such (I have seen this as a consideration in other posts :). The question I have is around the size of the kitchen, which you can see in the photo below. The house is on a two-level site, so the main entrance will be through a lower level, under the living area, and up through the stairs in the bottom right corner (marked Down). The kitchen is only 2x4m and I'm not even sure it really qualifies as "galley". I am looking for some guidance as to the placement of our appliances. We'd really like to have big fridge/freezer (XX in the drawing) and dishwasher (not currently in the drawing) in there (in addition to your standard hob/oven/sink). There is a dotted line for counter or island against the wall with the stove, but we think we probably won't have space for that in the current dimensions. There is an option to extend the entire house by 0.5-1m out towards the deck (make it "longer" but keep it the same width), and we'd likely give all of those gains to the kitchen - kind of stretch the inside of the house. However, this would really strain the budget and we may not be able to swing it. Do you think we can make do with the kitchen at the current size and have all those appliances?
