What do you think about the layout? Any recommendations?
Comments (3)Wow, I really like this design and the rest of the house....really has a lovely flow to it and is very bright. My only concern with opening up the original living room to the hallway would be that the existing house is poorly insulated and would leave the front room cold during the winter. I imagine the existing front room as a dynamic room in that the doors to the dining room can be closed, a stove fire turned on and it would be a quiet reading/relaxing zone in the house. Though I must admit...the above example provided is really tempting. thanks Dytecture!...See MoreDo we have space for a 5ft x 4ft kitchen island?
Comments (8)I am sorry to say you don't have room. You are only giving yourself 36" in front of the ovens and only 31" for passage on the opposite side and 42" is not enough between the island and the sink. You might find a smaller 30" wide x 48" moveable stainless steel prep table and placed in the opposite direction, it might work for additional counter surface but not give you the seating you would like....See MoreWhat colour wood for kitchen table?
Comments (5)I think the flatness of the cabinets and the prominent grain of oak don't necessarily work well given the disparity in color. I would suggest a warmer wood like walnut that has some tans and darks blended, and a softer grain that would work well with the cabinetry....See MoreWould you do it any different?
Comments (9)Hello Roundwood Design, Very nice!!..... there are just a few things I'd do differently.. Have a free standing range oven.. If we could... Wolf... Smeg double 9 burner duel fuel in chrome... Simply because I like gas for the hob and electric oven.. I really like very robust, industrial appliances.. Dualit toaster and Architect kettle, Kitchenaid in chrome.. No need to put these in corners! I'd choose a different sink... I do like ceramic butler style, concrete or a marble or other stone.. Slightly different tap.. Handles... I personally don't really like them...unless they are really really plain lengths of brass or those lovely brass cup handles.. Then I would paint the bottom cabinets a nice charcoal or a navy.. Or the walls a dark colour..If there was more height to contrast the light cupboards at head height.. I'd have a big larder cupboard or two if the space allowed... instead of corner units.. For food and for the table linen and crockery etc.. You could have boxed in the extractor and painted it the same colour as the cupboards- as there is a lack of chrome here.. that could have worked with the overall aesthetic of the room... The little 3 spot light.. Don't think that is sophisticated enough.. Have a look at Old School Electric.. Do love the shape of the doors and design and also the subway tiles choice and the use of matt paint! The floor is very nice too and the kitchen is well made.. : ))...See Morehavingfun
