Comments (1)Firstly -- what a lovely home! The classical styling is very nice. Regarding the door color vs. trim color -- how dark the tones are compared to each other is the first thing to consider in this case. If the tones are similar, it may look very coordinated. In other words, I would prefer a charcoal along with a medium / dark blue. Compare different tones to see what works best for you. The second thing I would consider is the undertone of the grey. It will look one way at your kitchen table in planning stages and another way entirely next to the yellow of the house and the blue of the door. If you can determine the undertone of the grey -- great! That may help you to choose the type of blue to work with. If you still are having troubles after that, consider a blue with some grey in it. Have a lovely time of it. Color is a great thing to play with....See MoreWRm pale grey for north facing room
Comments (6)I'm a huge fan of Farrow & Ball and their greys are lovely but if they're not working for you then why not try a different brand? The Paint Library Architectural range is very useful and they have a good range of greys in varying shades from I to V (I being the lightest) so you can use a III on the walls and I on the woodwork for a perfect tonal look. They're also grouped by undertone so they're really easy to use! Try Salt or Cotton perhaps? Zoffany also have some beautiful greys and have a similar shading system with some of their colours (quarter, half and double). In particular, I really love the Silver, Harbour Grey and Linen ranges....See MoreWRm pale grey for north facing room
Comments (9)To be honest I would be very careful with grey or anything with grey tones. We moved house last July and painted our lounge in FB elephants breath. In the north facing room it was very grey and sucked the life out of the room. We had to change it - very depressing. We have now used a paint from Little Greene - the paint quality is so much better than FB. Our decorator agrees. They might have a nice grey - but please be very sure of how it will look in your room!...See MoreDark Kitchen - Light Floor - Advice Needed :)
Comments (0)Hi All, We are buying a new house which comes with a generic kitchen. We plan to upgrade and change colours, get a quartz countertop etc. We had our heart set on a light grey wood style floor. but my question is around what type of floor. We originally thought laminate throughout the whole downstairs, but then were put off as people were saying it was a bad idea for kitchens. Then we started thinking of wood effect tiling, but the idea of dirty grout kinda sways me away from that. Here's a rough photoshop of what we're thinking - disregard the wonky floor :) Any advice?...See Morearchmod9919
