Well we live in a flat on the 4th floor in Edinburgh city. So we loved the thought of being able to expose the original stone walls of the flat. You can see from the pictures that we had it done for the kitchen and lounge. Since everything of ours are modern, the stone wall really brings an edge to the design. And in the lounge, we painted it the Farrow & Ball Downpipe which we think really sets it off next to the stone. Especially with the mouldings on the window, the lounge has become quite a grand looking space even without any furnishings. And we didn't even get to varnish the walls as we liked the way it looked now. There doesn't seem to be any problems with the dust coming off the walls.

If it was me, I would centre it and only silicone the back. I understand your concerns about water going down the side. Realistically, though, as you will only be washing your hands and maybe teeth in it, there is unlikely to be much water gushing about. To detract from the fact there is not as much space on either side of sink, I would have carpenter either wall mount or put legs on the cabinet so there is space underneath and the unit doesn't look too chunky!

We are adding a rear single story extension to our semi detached 3 bed house, the rear of the house is south facing so lots of natural light, our current design is for a pitched roof with Velux in the roof and triangular windows on the back wall. Has anyone encountered blinding shafts of light through these upper windows? At the moment we notice in autumn / winter / early spring when the sun is lower we have to put the blinds down at the back of the house. The blinds for triangular windows I find ugly and dust magnets, but our architect thinks I am mad to remove them from the plans Many thanks for all advice

My partner and I picked tiles we thought would work but that we both hate (mostly the beige coloured ones inside the shower/steam room). There weren't enough of the blue tiles in the shop on the back wall to do whole shower. It's our fault and now we're wondering what we can do to basically change the beige mosaic tiles?Someone suggested tile paint, but I hear it looks terrible over the grout areas.Also niche shelves I requested for inside the shower room were not put in, which I really wanted. I'm upset they're not in and am nearly considering doing that wall again to get them in. Someone suggested glass shelves, though I'm not sure they're safe in a steam room?I almost want to do the whole thing again. 😩 It's hideous.
