Grey/black roof slates

Any ideas as to how I could use 200 year old roof slates in my garden. Nice feature that would be striking! Thank you

Hello 1siobhan1,

Well I first thought about a nice flooring.. but thought they would crack underfoot... What about borders... or raised beds.. Could be turfed raised beds.. To create a geometric and architectural feature on an existing lawn or grass area.. : ))

Hi. I'm not that keen on the paper with the rest of the room, it doesn't look bad at all but it doesn't look stunning either imo. Everything else looks to be more of a greige? I'd look at the same paper in truffle, sable, dark linen or even the pewter may work ( hard to tell colours on screen so would get samples of all!). I agree with the others, would go for plain bed linen and add pattern in cushions and/ or throw. It looks as if a chalk pink would work best with the greige. Maybe a chalky white for the remaining furniture. You could also break up the window ŵall by adding a trim and maybe Pom poms to the bottom of the blind. A little antique gold for accessories, lights etc would also work well.

I love the cabin in the woods, its a intimate setting where you are drawn to the outside whilst keeping snug indoors. The use of fabrics sets it apart from the usual cold designs of other modern rooms. The attention detail in the selection of furniture pieces keeps it modern yet functional.

Hi, I think that you could give this house a smart contemporary look with the grey windows that you suggested. I would break each window up into two or three panels though, this would give each panel a more elegant vertical emphasis. A timber front door is always nice though, the image above shows one of our houses with a similar hip-roofed style and grey frames (the windows here are openable too). It is good to match the window frame colour to the gutters and/or eaves fascia & soffit. In this house we had an iroko timber door and eaves which brings a warm high quality feel to the house. Depends how many you have.
If you have half a roofs worth then sell them.
If you only have a few you could cover a table top or just use them as table mats.
I also like a neighbours water feature where she had two pools at different heights and the water spilled over slate from the higher one into the lower one.
