Accessories colours

Hi,

Wondering what colour kettle and toaster colour to go for in a new grey gloss kitchen ? For new extension
It will be open plan living space too so will add cushions then to tie in colour but really unsure what colour to pick!
Had black set before, like some greens but then some are very bright like blue then more choice in red!
Any suggestions

yellow would look amazing against the grey or copper.

Personally I get bored of colours too easily so I use vases and artwork in my kitchen for colour accents and my neutral brushed chrome kettle/toaster last longer that way,

Hello,

If you're going for the new classic of grey with say white as below and wish to add colour in, keep your regular elements in a colour that will to some degree disappear... Stainless steel accessories will never date, and they leave you free to ring the changes with your fabric accessories, cool for summer, warm for winter... without the extra expense of trying to match in your every day items like kettles etc. Good luck and let us know how you get on... x

Hello jkhmcd, Colours can largely depend on what you are buying appliance wise.. I always go for and suggest robust chrome.. Free standing chrome range, with Dualit toaster, it's the most beautiful toaster ever and an iconic piece of design.. and complimentary kettle .. Dualit do a nice one too called architect.. I have done a lot of consulting on what brands and best design so the dualit is an all time favourite!! I don't know what the spout is like on the kettle and you'd want to go and try it out maybe but there's a couple of my must haves.. Chrome for me makes a kitchen.. I'd move on to a chrome kitchenaid if baking is enjoyed.. For me it's on a big long list! One thing I do think is a no no... Coffee, tea and sugar canisters.. Personally I hate to see these things especially on the worktop.. .. I keep tea in the cupboard and coffee in the fridge.. Have things on show that are more functional, like a collection of wooden chopping boards, that sort of thing.. Minimal and sleek worktop keeps the kitchen looking really stylish.. Grey is a lovely colour, works with chrome and you could maybe team it with creams or darker colours if you like dark.. It's hard to suggest things here as I don't know if grey is on walls or cupboards or floor.. If you could say what is what, it's easier to advise.. For now thought... think Chrome!.. : ) )

Lower the painting get rid of the tiny lamps and all the other stuff on top and then see what you want to do. I am only seeing the pic of your sideboard which I think is quite nice. Replace the lamps with either one on one side and something in apple green on the other side for balance or 2 larger lamps if you like symmetry , The painting should hang a little lower that 5’ to the center in a DR you could also go larger or a great mirror to give some life to that wall I am seeing another piece of furniture right beside that is it staying ? I would like to see a pic of the whole space.

Hi Orla. I've looked at your ideabook and assume you're happy to stick with the monotone look? I'd look at papering the ŵall behind the bed in Cole and son library panel wallpaper in midnight (pic will follow but it would also look good in a light shade!). The rest of the walls I'd do in a pale but warm grey. Which way does the room face in terms of lights? Go for black bedside cabinets but maybe something with curved lines or round handles against the bed. Either glass bedside lamps with white shades or in a warm metal or pendants hung low over the bedsides, Stick to white bed linen but add a charcoal throw with lots of texture. Choose cushions with different texture and patterns from White through to charcoal. Depending on what flooring you have you could also add a grey textured rug under the bed. I'd go for plain pale-mid grey curtains. If you have the space/budget a patterned black/grey and white chair would look great. I think the key thing is texture for interest so maybe also a large antiqued mirror, a chandelier with a silk drum shade, white flowers etc.

Sarsheen, you've created a lovely classic kind of luxury Edwardian effect. Fab. I think that's when those moorish tiles came into vogue initially. To continue on the theme - you could try one of those nice (wood or chrome) towel stands, which can be moved around. (Like they have in London gentleman-club type bedrooms and country-house hotels.). If you got a wood one, you could echo this with a wood framed mirror, perhaps ? A big fern type plant that loves the damp would look glorious too!

Hello,

I would suggest red, blue, yellow, orange or purple. They would all perfectly go with grey. Besides, you can mix and match colours, so why not pick a colour of your cushions?
