Colour to paint sideboard

I've just bought this lovely sideboard for my dining room. But the room is looking a bit dull and I plan to paint the sideboard to add colour and interest. I don't want to go too mad with it, something elegant. In the next photo you can see a mirror painted in a French grey type chalk paint, this will sit over the sideboard. I was thinking of keeping the top of the sideboard wood and paint below. I few ideas I had were Chinese red toned down with dark wax, or teal blue/green, of dark graphite colour or perhaps dark duck egg with dark wax? The top half of the room, is a living room which leads into this dining room, has a sofa in grey/beige and some apple green accessories. Please suggest!

Lower the painting get rid of the tiny lamps and all the other stuff on top and then see what you want to do. I am only seeing the pic of your sideboard which I think is quite nice. Replace the lamps with either one on one side and something in apple green on the other side for balance or 2 larger lamps if you like symmetry , The painting should hang a little lower that 5’ to the center in a DR you could also go larger or a great mirror to give some life to that wall I am seeing another piece of furniture right beside that is it staying ? I would like to see a pic of the whole space.

Thanks Patricia. Yes the lamps are temporary, I will replace with a larger pair, the drinks and glass cabinet on the right may have to be moved for symmetry, and the painting will be replaced by the large mirror. Would you suggest painting sideboard?

This is a renovation of a stairwell, hallway and landing we did recently. As you can see, we also created bespoke paneling for the client and the space itself is quite similar to yours. Our house is currently painted white but i want to change it up. We have a chartwell green door, dark grey windows, grey stone and some light grey panelling on one end of the house where we built on a small extension. I really would not once painted really hard to get back, I think those chages with nice fresh flowers will make the space feel much better
