Advice please: Electric underfloor heating

We are renovating our 3 bed bungalow, and it has electric underfloor heating throughout(!).
It's a small house on the coast, mostly used during the summer.
We want to change the tiles on the floor.

Any advice on floor surfaces that really work (and DON'T work) with electric underfloor heating.

When I looked into it, I was advised that any tiles would be suitable, except the sparkly ones (the resin causes them to warp).

We had vinyl tiles in our last house with underfloor heating - vinyl means that they're not so noisy as hard floors.

fragle0 ... congratulations on the new addition to your family. Have been following your lovely changes. You probably won't have time to work on the decor for a while. Just wanted to suggest that you try pulling the nesting tables forward to be more in line with front of the chairs & placing your floor lamp to the back of them. This will give a bit more light at night for reading in that area.Also switching the plant by the fireplace & the one on the corner by the sofa.

I am back again. I decided against the tile originally proposed as the advice here was totally right, the tile had a strong pink/salmon tone. Thanks so much to everyone. I have been searching again and attached is what I am now thinking of going for. I think this tile is very neutral, should match a lot of colours, is warm and easy to keep. It should also match a modern kitchen. Opinions please!!!

Heating for a new build, advice needed

We regularly fit these systems on the houses we do as well as solar panels especially on new builds. we are not a solar company but always advise our customers on these option as they can save you a great deal of money as well as a tax free income. Air source heat pumps Like ground source heat pumps, air-to-water ASHPs work better with underfloor heating systems. If underfloor heating is not possible, large radiators should be used. This is because the heat generated by the heat pump is not as high as that produced by a conventional boiler, so a larger surface area is needed to achieve similar temperatures in your home. Air-to-water heat pumps could be better suited to new-build properties than retrofit - this is because costs could be reduced if the heat pump is included as part of the building specification, rather than having to retrofit underfloor heating later on. Heat pumps can save you more on your heating bills if you're replacing an electric, oil, LPG or coal system, rather than gas. A well-insulated house is essential to best optimise the heat generated by your ASHP - otherwise the heat the pump is generating escapes more easily. Once in place, the heat pump should require little maintenance. Air-to-water heat pumps qualify for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI). Air source heat pump costs and savings ASHPs are cheaper than ground source heat pumps. The Energy Saving Trust (EST) estimates that the cost of installing a typical ASHP system ranges between £7,000 and £11,000. The payback period (the time taken to recoup the cost of the system in energy savings) depends on how efficiently your system works, the type of system you're replacing, whether you can get money with the RHI and how you'll be using the heat generated from the pump. The EST says that an average performing air source heat pump in an average four-bedroom detached home could save: between £360 to £555 a year if replacing oil (non-condensing) between £1,200 and £1,805 a year if replacing LPG (non-condensing) between £715 and £1,295 a year if replacing electric heating (old storage heaters). It also estimated that the RHI would pay an extra £905 to £1,365 a year. Hope this helps. Regards Anthony Vyou Home improvements

Wood Essence Amber is a great product, comes in just few sizes but also in a non slip tile. The tiles in general could be lay on floor boards, not directly. I would lay first a 9-10 mm plywood otherwise the existing boards might move too much creating cracks in the grout, also use flexible tile adhesive specific for wood, I think MAPEI has the best tile adhesive, but that is because I am Italian, sorry. I know KERAKOLL is getting more and more popular as DUNLOP. Best advise ever, do not go for plywood less than 9mm, please! ( I have been convinced by a client, I will never do it again its not worth it ) You might find some fibre cement boards to use specific for this porpoises, there are quite few types around you just need to ask your closest building merchant.
