What color are the cabinets painted in this picture?

I am buying a house that has this granite (tropical brown) in the kitchen. I'm keeping the granite but I prefer cooler colors so can you advise a grey-ish color to paint cabinets and walls? I am considering Revere Pewter as the main color for the house but I'm not so good a color choices and would be grateful for advice / suggestions. Overall, I'm trying to move from my beige / tan life to a new cooler gray life:-) Thanks! haley

Cabinets are painted pistachio. If you are looking to do grey family I would recommend smokey hills or even a Shale color. Hope this helps @Haley

I'm new to houzz and this was the first time I'd asked a question. Wasn't sure how it all worked. Thank you for fast, helpful, reply. I looked up smokey hills and it is beautiful-- thank you. If I paint the cabinets smokey hills, do you have a lighter grey paint color for the main area of the home to coordinate with the cabinets? They can be seen from just about everywhere in the house so whatever color I use in the kitchen will likely be used everywhere but the bedrooms and baths. I'm afraid if I use the revere pewter this beautiful grey will make the revere pewter look tan in comparison.

Ooh Darzy I like your thinking. Actually the curtains are taupe and a nearly mint green - not stripes more they blend into each other (see pic). But if I got some art picking out those 2 colours that could work. I love teal but not sure about it on this wall. Maybe coral could be nice or is that too on trend? I also have an old chair I need to get reupholstered and was struggling for ideas for that. But a floral pattern with the green and taupe from the curtains and a third colour that matches the art could work well - ideas, ideas, ideas!Thank you Houzzers I knew you'd help me to look at this differently.

Hi, this is a tricky one! I tell you the trend for 'grey's is frying my brain cell currently! It's very hard to make greys go with brown's because in a nutshell, they don't. Grey is a cool colour and brown is warm. Therefore, trying to get the mix right is a nightmare. If you're stuck on the midnight silver, which is a pretty colour, i'd probably have to go with painting the fireplace in the same, midnight silver, but darkening down the alcoves with a darker yet warm grey. Go for the same darker grey on the mantle shelf itself. The bricks would also have to be very dark, as painted bricks can look a little weird. When i paint bricwork, i choose not to paint the grouting. Instead i get a big pallette of similar looking colours, matchpots are good for this because you can buy 6 or 7 for a pound each at B&Q, then i stipple the paint onto the bricks so that they aren't one uniform colour, i've painted concrete to look like brick in this manner, it's very effective. If I were you i'd go for grey tones on the wall that look more taupe as they will sit better with your flooring which is a lovely warm tone. By going with the 'is it grey / is it taupe' colour scheme you will not end up with the cool greys competing with the floor.
