Hi, Moving into a new house which is currently painted white with white PVC windows. We're planning on replacing the windows with Aluclad windows and I was looking for suggestions on colour combinations. Initially, I was thinking that I'd repaint the house white and go with Anthracite Grey frames. However I'm a little worried that it's very fashionable at the minute and might date in the next couple of years. I've also seen a few houses lately with lighter coloured windows which looked good. One had a grey with what looks to be almost an olive undertone with the walls painted a deep creamy shade. I'd be really interested to hear what colour combinations other people have gone for and whether I risk dating the house as '2016' with a white/dark grey/anthracite combination. I'll post photos later of the house as it is currently and a mock up of the house with dark grey windows. Thanks a million!!

We have recently moved into our new house which is a 1970's semi. We want to do a bit of work on it, the biggest job would be in the kitchen which we want to completely update and replace the window with doors. We would like advice on how to tie the various bits we want done in the house together and also take advice on whether or not we would benefit from more structural work. I've spoken to one architect who said the budget is too small for them which now makes me feel embarrassed to contact anyone else! He advised we use an interior designer but I have no leads or recommendations so now I don't know which way to turn. We really want to get it right so what should we do???

Hi there, I am starting to plan a renovation for my house. This is so far outside of my comfort zone, I already feel rather stressed just thinking about it. What is the best way to plan it & budget it? Are there any idiot renovation processes I can follow? Specifically I'm looking to do the following: - Convert attic - Re-do bathroom - Extend kitchen to meet dining room (there's a bit of a damp problem I think in the dining room walls) - Improve heating/insulation - Replace bay windows upstairs and downstairs - I'm not sure if the roof needs any work - Re-decorate whole place It's a mid-terrace house. Just a small list so! Ideally I would like to have a project manager but I don't think I can afford one. Any and all ideas/advice gratefully received! Thanks, Clodagh
