Wood wall or Paint?

Is the receded part of the wall a thin wooden sheet or brown paint or stain over drywall? Obviously the protruding pieces are cut wood and (likely) stained but I'm trying to understand how the receded part is made. Thank you

Hello and thank you for the question, the walls are Alder plywood, with applied trim and molding to create the panel detail. I hope that helps.

Hi All, Looking to paint a color on our sitting room wall. It is a new build so quite hard to visualize as we are not in it yet. We have chosen a grey wooden floor and a beige/sand color sofa. Any ideas what color paint would go? We were looking at two colors below ‘Milky way’ and ‘Parfais’ in the Crown range. Let me know what you think? Thanks

A medium color floor is easier to keep looking clean than a dark or light floor. For an open floor plan, I would choose planks. One of the main features in the design of an open floor plan is to draw the eye through the space. A herringbone pattern would be confusing to the eye. Use herringbone in a small room.
