Staircase Dilemma

I need ideas or pros that can change the positioning of my staircase to give a 'grand' entry look to my entrance.
Pros needed in Perth.

I personally like the kitchen, kind of a Scandinavian modern look. leave the skirts, doors and trims as is. Paint wise, I am going to invite you to a kitchen gallery that I think works well with the existing aesthetic you have now. I like the "Melrose Kitchen" in this instance, as an example of wall color. The trim is painted here, but leaving yours as is, I believe, would be fine! Happy Houzzing.

Hi, We always put a quick note to verify our experience: Brigitte and I have consistently designed between 70-90 kitchens/year for over 34 years..... We've literally designed thousands of kitchens..... We also design/build full structural including below-grade foundation plans..... Anyway, certainly nothing personal, but that tile reminds us of old bathroom tiles/patterns from back in the 40's/50's, not something to put on a large kitchen floor.....Considering that you also have a parquet floor pattern in both adjoining rooms it might really look awful.....As we tell many clients- "don't want to look like we're in Disney World!.....You should be able to buy some of these tiles and lay them out, then return them.....Do it next to the other floors to see the visual.....Hope this helps.....John & Brigitte

Hi Pam, didn’t notice you’re dilemma before, just had a look at it. Milky Way mural sounds interesting. Although I’m a bit confused as to which wall you were thinking of putting it on. Is it the long wall where the fireplace is? The mural itself is most likely to be very dark in colour and like you say quite difficult to tie in with traditional furniture. But it could work with with jewel tone soft furnishings (emerald green, teal, wine red etc. in sumptuous fabrics like velvet and silk). You also say you have a conservatory garden wall mural upstairs on the landing, I imagine this to have a lot of green colours so I think anything downstairs should also have an element of green to link the colours through the house and create a better flow. Personally I wouldn’t put it on the fireplace wall as I think it would be too overbearing but the area where the dining table is would be nice and you could link it on the other side of the partition with paint colour and art. Was definitely thinking you need a rug in front of the sideboard as you come in from the hall. plan dilemma - advice please

Our builder suggested we get rid of the sittingroom walls and leave only the wall between the sittingroom and kitchen so we would in effect be walking from front door into the open plan sittingroom room. What do you guys think? We will not be having the stairs yet until we convert the attic in the future
