Living Room revamp
Comments (13)This is going to almost have to be an eclectic mix...which can work. I would cover the glass doors with curtains or roll-up shades/blinds for sure, on the living room side. Could be sheer or gauze type material. Or even roman shades in a patterned fabric. I would then find a very large ornate mirror to go over the fireplace. You could either distress one yourself, or probably find one that is already distressed. To be quite honest, the wallpaper you have on the fireplace wall looks like it could work as is. Not exactly sure what the color is...(bad computer monitor). Get one or two overstuffed slipcovered chairs with skirts. Get some throw pillows that are in the same color range as those to use on leather couch. Maybe a thick floral rug and one of those industrial bin carts for a coffee table. Go antiquing and junk store shopping...find old flower vases or ornate silver pitchers and fill them with flowers....See MoreRevamp our hallway

Huge silver mirror above the covered radiator then add a runner of any colour you like and match it with the lamps and lighting. hey presto done....See MoreWin a design consultation at The permanent tsb Ideal Home Show!
Comments (74)Hello Houzz Ireland, We are currently renovating a 1960's build - so as you know, there is a lot of decisions to be made!! So it would be nice to get some gems of advice from the experts to help us through this daunting task. Areas where we would really like some inspiration for - small bathroom downstairs. I would really like to do something fun with this room and although small, I think it could work really well with some funky wallpaper or possibly tiles?! I'm just not sure what to do with it. Also - pulling a whole house together?! Where do we start? We have the bigger pieces of furniture but how do I know what nest of tables goes best with a suite? Or what accessories will bring a room together? I'm due a second baby in 2 weeks time so any help at this stage would be so amazing - to guide me on the right interior design path for our new house. Thanks, Laurie...See MoreWhat colour to paint or varnish door saddles?
Comments (0)We just bought a bungalow and are doing some redecorating before we move in. It is an old house with a narrow hallway and small rooms so we want to keep it as light and airy feeling as possible. We are putting in new doors, architrave, skirting, etc. and painting these white. However all of the windows (which we aren't changing as they are quite new) are a dark wood - almost a walnut colour. My question is what colour should I varnish the door saddles? I would prefer to varnish rather than paint these, but don't want to go too dark. How many wood colours is ok in a house, e.g. should we varnish the saddles to an oak colour and stick with this for the furniture? Any advice appreciated!...See MoreAtlas Kitchens Ltd
