But I think -- assuming you do want to change the rug -- you need to shop for traditional rugs, looking for those that will blend with the three colours in the curtains. Most will have additional colour/s in them, which will then help you choose your cushions and throws based on that palette. For instance, with the first rug above, if its border colours did tone with your curtains, you would have the bonus of that lovely blue/grey to play with too. With your current rug you could pick up the grey, as well as the plummy colours and beiges that tone so well with your curtains -- and do I see green in there as well? Curse monitors, they play with colours and confuse one's eyes. Still, they make this possible. When you have sorted out your basic colours -- and I think either the blue/grey or a subtle green would work very well as an addition in your room -- that gives you a basis for selecting cushions. I would start with a big, soft-textured cushion for the sofa in the background colour of your curtains. And then there's my favourite thing -- art for your walls. I'd love to see a big piece of art above the gorgeous stove. And then, and then .... pick a chandelier? Enough for now. Comments (327)How will you pose for your Miss Photogenic photo op? Will you go with the Carmen Miranda fruit bowl tiara? Or would the Easter egg thingamadooeys suffice? Decisions, decisions..... Maybe Grover could photo shop each one with your dress so we can decide? We wouldn't want to break any decorating rules because we do have our reputations to uphold. Just wanted to suggest that you try pulling the nesting tables forward to be more in line with front of the chairs & placing your floor lamp to the back of them. This will give a bit more light at night for reading in that area. Also switching the plant by the fireplace & the one on the corner by the sofa....See MoreBedroom colour scheme advice
Comments (9)Hi Louise, In a room like this I always like to keep the walls and ceilings ( including the small door and frame 1 colour...in this case a lavender. I'd start by finding colour chips that have the same colour as the carpet, and then go a few shades lighter but in the same tome. All baseboards and door to hall should be the same colour as the iron beds...off white. With the walls a colour you'll be able to see the pretty pattern of the frame. OR find a small scaled pattern of any of the shades of purple and the cream same as the bed frame) with the same fabric. Make custom bedding to match. In a small room 1 pattern works well everywhere. If you go the paint route, try to find fabric with soft gold, lavender, purple for a skirted table between the beds if there's room. You can put it on a cardboard table and base...found in some fabric or craft stores. Top it with a thin piece of glass ( Pier 1) and away you go.Don't be afraid of colour or small pattern in a small space, as you are going for the impact. Have fun! Shaila...See Moremegneuhoff
