Need help with redesigning front of house
Comments (10)Thanks for the feedback, we had something similar in mind. Would you suggest bringing the door out to the front? What about the windows either side, we would think about replacing maybe in a different colour, possibly grey, and add some cedar cladding to the house front and paint walls grey. We are also toying with the idea of bring double doors out to the front with arclight over head and then to add coving around the windows with arc that mirrors the arc light to try and soften the whole angular look to to the front. All suggestions welcome. Thanks Brian...See MoreFront garden beds and improving street appeal.
Comments (16)Hi nick. Thanks. Yes, i have come to that realisation after being told it by everyone i speak to! So looking at hedging or other ideas for the side fences then shrubs / plants / flowers for the main parts. I'd be interested innyour ideas. On the other side if the fence, if you mean the road side, the footpath is right up against the fence. I'd say the footpath is maybe 1.5m wide, maybe a bit more....See MoreAny suggestions for our ground floor layout?
Comments (14)Jen, are you sure everything is in proportion? I'm asking, because that store seems to be just a bit wider than a door (so about 1 m) which is fine, but doesn't give much space to manoeuvre inside it. Also, a bit too many doors in a small space, but I'm afraid I can't offer you a remedy for that. You have two wide, massive windows and a door in between, I think that will give plenty of light. Personally, I'd just add skylights or a glass roof. Or a long strip of glass all along What you don't seem to have is ventilation windows. Trust me, you're going to want one in the utility, or at least a good fan. Transom style windows could work too if you can open them. I really wish you'd see an architect... there are lots of different, small things that a professional can spot from miles away that you wouldn't even consider. As I said, I regret we didn't; our house is great, but it could've been even better!...See MoreGarden design ideas
Comments (3)HI -- That is a big yard . Section off for your needs . Plan a patio and entertainment area close to the house . Then an area for the kids and then an area for a garden if needed and so on . Maybe build a little garden /summer house that has a fireplace or is screened in . Then the left over area you could just have it as a natural meadow with lots of trees where you don't need to mow grass -- the dog would love that . Add lighting too. Use some Eco grass ( no mow ) and lots of perennials and trees . Make a grove of trees like aspens or birches . Because of the size of your property , you should consult with a landscape designer ....See More- 12 years ago
