The Workshops of David T. Smith
Kitchen Designers in Highland, OH
Average rating: 5 out of 5 stars2 April 2013
“Anyone who walks into our home sees a ton of beautiful pieces that we have purchased from the Workshops of David T. Smith. We have had them create multiple custom pieces, and they always worked very well translating our thoughts and ideas into reality. Their craftsmanship is top notch, and has helped us make our house into the home we've always wanted.”
Dunham Construction Co

“Dave Dunham was extremely detail conscious in the job, very pleasant to work with and above all, considerate of us throughout the process. By that i mean he described everything that was going to happen, asked alot about how we wanted it to be (no surprises!), and repeatedly said his job was just to make sure we were happy with the results. He also had opinions and suggestions where we felt that we needed advice. He knows alot about everything from masonry work to drywall to plumbing and knows his way around the business side of things as well. He really has been a pleasure to work with. My family room project is just about done with covering an old brick fireplace with drywall, granite and a new mantle (WOW!) and we have others doing carpet and a new patio door.”

“Jason remodeled our guest and master bathrooms from December 2012 - March 2013. The guest bathroom remodel included the tear out and replacement of shower tile, decorative wall tile, floor tile and vanities. The master bathroom remodel included the complete tear out of the entire bathroom, including walls and an old jacuzzi tub. Jason and his crew were always on time, neat, polite and efficient. They cleaned up their work areas every day and left the rest of our house in as good working order as possible. Jason helped us design the layout for our new master bathroom. We love the finished product in both bathrooms. They are both gorgeous and functional. There were absolutely no surprises with any of the invoices. Jason communicated all overages and underspending to us throughout the project. The final invoices were exactly what we'd anticipated. We've recommended Jason to multiple friends and family members and will continue to do so. We'll also continue to use him as a contractor for any kitchen, bathroom or plumbing projects.”

“I used the service and had an old cast iron tub stripped and coated. Mark explained the process thoroughly and did an excellent job. He returned my call within 24 hours and set a date the following week even though he was very busy. Mark showed up and completed the work in a timely manner. The tub looks new thanks to Mark. I highly recommend Fitgerald's Creative Coatings.”
The Kitchen Place

“We hired Kelly Zamonski of The Kitchen Place to completely gut our kitchen in our 90 year old house. We wanted to keep the new design vintage, with the character of the old house. We worked on the layout and design ahead of time, with Kelly spending a great deal of time researching our many choice combinations. She had many original ideas that we loved and understood the look that we wanted. She was very patient with our many questions, making us feel comforted every step of the way. She gave us the details that she knew we needed, knowing that we were detail-oriented customers. She gave design advice for the function, as well as the aesthetics. We truly got our vintage, original-looking kitchen. It has very high-quality materials, craftsmanship, and design. We decided to use her sub-contractors, since they have worked togethers for many years and work well as a team. They also give the highest quality of work, and knowing that this was the only time that we would be doing this kind of project, we wanted perfection. We would highly recommend The Kitchen Place to anyone. Many friends, who have come to see our kitchen, are amazed at the transformation. One has recently gone to The Kitchen Place and ordered cabinets, because they were so impressed. We live in a neighborhood of old homes, where many are looking to remodel their kitchen, and I will definitely suggest they take a look at our kitchen and consider The Kitchen Place.”
Jim Carver & Sons
Kitchen Designers in Highland, OH
Average rating: 4 out of 5 stars4 January 2015
“We chose to work with Jim Carver and Sons for our complete kitchen remodel based on what we learned from Houzz, Angie's List, etc. We were looking for a contractor who would handle all of the basics - demolition, carpentry, cabinetry, electric and plumbing - but would also work with us on customization - counters, appliances, etc. In that regard, we were not disappointed. It took us a few visits to their showroom, but we very quickly came together on both design and price. Our job involved both interior and exterior work, which involved two separate crews. Both were outstanding, both in terms of the quality of work and their interactions with us. Demolition was done in a day, and the exterior work and cabinetry were completed in two weeks. There was a significant glitch - one set of upper cabinets had to be removed and replaced - but the final product was all we could have hoped for. The interior crew installed all of the appliances and fixtures we selected (stove, pendant lights, range hood), and coordination with the countertop installers (The Stone Studio) was flawless. The only downside of our experience involved our interactions with the project coordinator. Most significantly, his time spent on-site was minimal and our contact with him somewhat sporadic and unpredictable. This was a source of frustration, particularly when we discovered the problem with the cabinets that had to be removed and replaced. All's well that ends well, but more attentiveness on his part might have prevented the problem in the first place. However, having said that, we would be happy to return to Jim Carver and Sons for a future project. They know their business, and their quality of workmanship is outstanding. We are thrilled with our new kitchen, and we thank them for their hard work.”

“John is the finest contractor/builder I have ever had the pleasure to work with. He is the best! I also recommend the people he uses for sub contracting and have called on them independently of John. Everything he did for us was excellent and I will always think he is the best in town. Suzy Homan”

“We have contracted with them to install a sky light in our kitchen. We have looked at the skylight they plan to use and approve of it and their estimate of time material and what they will do. The rain we have had has them backed up so we keep in contact and they will start as soon as they have a window without rain to be able to cut a hole in the roof.”
