“Ktichen renovation. First experience with remodeling. The Hahka team were professional and supportive. Designer Linda Billings was extremely accessible and helpful. Her suggestion to incorporate an island with the character of furniture is the statement piece that adds the "wow" factor to our kitchen. General contractor Randy Hahka very clearly has a personal interest in quality work. He strongly lobbied for the replacement of louvered pantry and laundry doors with doors that more closely matched the new cabinetry-although more costly, this was definitely the right decision from a design perspective. The construction team were skillful, friendly, honest and easy to work with. We did have a few whoopsies, but I understand this is par for the course with renovation projects and at the end, nothing was left unresolved. The team very clearly made great efforts to provide customer satisfaction. Job was not completed on time, mainly due to issues with pantry/laundry doors. Very happy with the results of our project.”

“My 150 year old house remodel went so smoothly, quickly and on budget with my contractor Mark Magid, owner of Below Magid Construction. He was so professional and creative, but even better, he made the process amazingly fun! Because we were not sure what we would find inside the walls or under the floors of this sweet old house, everyday was an adventure for me with Mark and his high qualified subcontractors. 5 layers of wallpaper, 4 layers of linoleum, oaks floors on top of fir floors, truly vintage kitchen cabinets, plumbing fixtures and electrical surprises were never a stress, more like an exciting challenge. I would email him a list of questions or ideas, and the same day Mark would answer me and arrive at the site to meet me with suggestions and answers to update but honor the historical value of my home. It's hard for my family and friends to understand that I enjoyed everyday of my challenging remodel!”

“My husband and I have owned our home for 30 years, we plan to age in place here as this will be our forever home. We have been making some changes to the house to make this possible. One of the issues we were having was there were no rails on our three porches. The porches are short concrete steps with one or two risers each. The front porch in particular is very small. We contacted several companies to get a quote for fabrication and installation of railings. Some called back, but didn’t follow through. One company was able to install rails but did not fabricate metal rails. I began to look for metal fabricators and found Thiessen Design. We checked out the company’s website and found the products to beautiful. I contacted them through the site and got a quick reply. Within a week I had an appointment with Jeff Thies. Jeff was quick to understand what we wanted to do, and had great ideas for us that we had not thought of. He promised to get us drawings and a quote for our project within a reasonable time and met his commitment. Another advantage for us was that Jeff's company not only built rails but would install them too. After we agreed to a design and signed a contract, Jeff also followed through on our agreed timeline. When the day came to install the rails we were happier than ever that we had found this company. The workmanship on these rails is beautiful, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the way they look on our house. Overall, we would recommend this company for the friendliness, professionalism, aesthetics, and quality of their work. We are already planning to work with Thiessen Design for other projects we would like to do at our home.”

“The guys did an amazing job designing and remodeling my home. They gave me and my wife a new kitchen that we absolutely love. They re-did the stairs with these custom cable railings that look like falling rain. They did the fireplace and crafted their own live edge mantle. They did so much to our home it's too much to list. I sold it (for a huge profit thanks to Santa Barbara Builders) and now I live in Texas. I like them so much I invited them to come with me and build us another home. I really considered quitting the Army to go into business flipping homes. It's not everyday you find such a great contracting outfit. I can't recommend them highly enough.”
