“Shane Lalama is a general contractor that works in building and design. Initially in the remodel project we sought an architect who drew up initial plans. We then submitted the project for three general contractors. After meeting with them we chose Shane because he immediately started giving us suggestions how we could alter the plans and improve function and save financially. Our project was a complete remodel since our home was built in 1957 and had not had significant work done since purchase in 1989. Our roof was a low pitch white coated roof that was altered to a higher pitch with clay tiles. The conversion of our car port to a two car garage with above garage storage. Our breezeway was converted into an enclosed pantry and utility room with laundry room facilities. This area opened into the garage and to the kitchen. The pantry had all new cupboards installed and matched kitchen cabinetry. This area opened to our back patio and had elevated wood beamed ceiling. The kitchen was totally remodeled with new appliances, granite countertops and a copper farmhouse sink and copper pot salad prep area. All cabinets were redone and matched cabinetry within the pantry. In our great room the fireplace was enlarged with similar stacked stone and an entertainment center that provided for mounted television and also created a foyer for our main entrance. We completely replaced all windows with Anderson windows. To my wife's art studio which is a separate building we added a 520 sq ft art gallery with complete bathroom facilities. Based on Shane's recommendation we enclosed the prior small nonfunctional patio by connecting the two buildings with patio walls and creating a huge patio with outdoor kitchen and upgrading our existing sunken spa. To our master bedroom we added 260 sq ft and created an on suite which included a Kohler 6 ft message tub with granite surround with off set chandelier. It also included a double sink vanity and makeup area, a walk-in closet, and huge tile shower with flagstone floors throughout the house except for the kitchen. Our home originally had a circular gravel stone drive. This was upgraded to a brick paver drive. Now that the project is finally about complete, I can not recommend Shane highly enough. I found him honest, extremely talented, and a joy to work with. He was considerate of us and our needs as were his employees and subcontractors.
