“After 20 years living in our timber frame home we decided to look into window coverings for our great room. Gail came out to our home and provided much needed help with the selection of custom Hunter Douglas blinds. She completed the installation and we are more than happy! The blinds really add to the visual appeal and help with temperature control in winter and summer. We have also recently consulted with Gail for paint colour selection on some upcoming home projects. “Just had "Shilloute" style blinds put in living room and master bedroom, door insert with vertical blinds in patio door and faux wood blinds in large basement window! Very happy with the quality, the service and the price! They cost me what another local company quoted for just the living room and basement window, so I got way more for my money! Certainly would recommend them.”

“I own a small cottage resort in Northern Ontario with 8 cottages. When we purchased the resort in 2013 I consulted with Cindy on paint colors and purchased Hunter Douglas blinds and all bedding for the cottages. We get a ton of compliments on our decor and the peaceful and calming atmosphere it provides. We also have received Trip Advisor reviews that comment on all our well coordinated comfortable soft bedding. When choosing curtains, consider their function, whether for privacy, light blocking, or decor enhancement. Take into account the room’s style, choosing curtains that complement the overall decor in terms of colour, pattern, and fabric texture. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
Any fabric can be used, but generally the most common types of fabric used are cotton, silk, linen, polyester, and combinations of these due to their lighter weight and insulating properties.
