“I was referred to Cheryl at Exceptional View by a friend in the housing and interior business. First, I got some pricing information from a few other window treatment vendors. Once Cheryl came for a home visit, I knew why she had been recommended. She was very affable and effective. My time with her seemed luxurious compared to other experiences I have had. She was able to help me meet my needs within my budget. Being a double amputee, I appreciate the remote controlled blinds. One hundred percent worth the extra money. Furthermore, I had quite settled on one tone when Cheryl showed me a much nicer one. Her experience and eye for décor paid off as the first ones would have been to dull or gray. “I worked with Rick Mintzell and his assistant Josh Knox on a Hunter Douglas PowerView motorization installation project. PowerView is the latest motorization system offered by Hunter Douglas the leading window experts in the industry. PowerView motorization just came out last summer. Rick was referred to me through Hunter Douglas. He has a wealth of experience as both an installer and having served in sales. He has worked in this industry for over 30 years. Rick and I met with the client to measure and customize our installation. There were a variety of challenges in this first floor area. We had a custom arch, a window set at the second story of the home, and we were customizing the motorization of the Architella window shades. Rick and I had in home visits and various phone conversations to make sure that we had prepared for a stellar installation. Rick delivered. Rick is very punctual, responsive, and knowledgeable. When choosing curtains, consider their function, whether for privacy, light blocking, or decor enhancement. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
Simply measure from where you want your blinds to start (the rail), to where you want your blinds to finish. Add 10-15 cms to this to prevent light bleed. To ensure your blinds fit correctly, take measurements at 3 equal points across your window and use the longest size.
