“I have always shied away from window coverings because I felt they would make a room feel closed in but I contacted Dian to see if she had any ideas. She spent hours with me, sketching out possible ways to frame my windows. She did three rooms and an entryway - all different designs. I felt she really took the time to understand my preferences and was so helpful. The final product is perfect and I was impressed by the quality of everything - this is not "off the shelves" kind of products - totally customized and I am thrilled with the results. She also helped me select chairs (again, spending hours with me) and then I ordered pillows from her for them. They are beautiful as well. I highly recommend Dian!”

“I highly recommend Rose Mendoza, owner of Opening Act Window Fashions. I was unsure of what I wanted. She asked me questions and was able to figure out what MY wants and needs were. From there, she gave me several options. We discussed the pros and cons of each and we came up with a window treatment plan within my budget. I had two rooms done with shutters and one room with shades. Wow! What an amazing improvement, inside and out! The installers were professional, friendly and the job was completed on time. When choosing curtains, consider their function, whether for privacy, light blocking, or decor enhancement. Take into account the room’s style, choosing curtains that complement the overall decor in terms of colour, pattern, and fabric texture. Measure the window accurately to ensure the curtains are the right size and length, considering whether you prefer floor-length or sill-length curtains. Select curtain fabrics based on light-blocking abilities, durability, and ease of cleaning.
In general, your curtains width should be double the width of your windows. For length, this depends on if you want floor length, sill length curtains or below sill. For sill length curtains, they should sit 1cm above the windowsill. Below length curtains generally sit around 15cm under the sill. For floor length curtains, ensure there is at least a 1cm gap between them and the floor. If your window has a radiator underneath it, the curtains should stop around 2-3cm above the radiator to avoid heat being absorbed by the curtain.
