“We were in the middle of a remodel when our house collapsed. I had to get options together as to rebuild on to what was left of our home or to tear down and start new. I outreached to RDS, spoke to Dominic who took my message, and received a call back in record time. Jim scheduled a visit with his structural engineer within a few days to come out to our site. Jim had me come in to design a sketch to build on to the back of our 1800's brick home. The sketch was amazing and came together very quickly. His design process is simple but thorough and allows for changes that he sketches on the spot. Ultimately, we have made the decision to tear down and build new. We do not have the time for a full customized designed from beginning to end but Jim had solutions for us. I feel confident that he has designed the house of our dreams within our budget. He is knowledgeable about building and associated costs. With little to no timeline, Jim manages to fit us in every time I call. “I am an interior designer who hired Richard Nevil to design the house included in his profile under the name "Hayes Residence" in Kiawah Island, SC. We thoroughly enjoyed working with Richard and found him to be attentive to both the particular design and scheduling specifications that were requirements for this project. It was not an easy house to design because it had to be incorporated among 5 very large Live Oak trees and, as an interior designer with a trove of furniture and art to be included in the house, I had my own very particular ideas for the house. Additionally, we were under a very tight schedule for the design and build and Richard was able to guide the process appropriately such that we received approval from the Architectural Review Board in a record 63 days. Richard works very hard top deliver the homes that his clients dream about and he does so with great patience, care and humor! “We planned a significant master bedroom renovation of our upstairs that included adding a dormer, a master bathroom, raising the ceiling and adding windows for southern exposure and passive solar. The existing room was partially finished but with poor insulation and natural lighting and no facilities. We needed a set of plans that we could get bids for work and pull permits with the city. Josh Lloyd w Sym-Home came to the house to review the space, listen to our objectives, and took photos and measurements. Josh prepared 3-D conceptual layouts of the dormer options and the floor plan. My wife was particularly appreciative of the 3-D plans as there were options she had liked in the 2-D plan but upon seeing them in 3-D realized it was not going to work or look the way she anticipated. “Our house was built in 1936. As with most older homes in this neighborhood, ours was admired for its charming interior design, original trim, plaster walls and leaded glass windows. But the house is relatively small (1,850 sq ft) and the kitchen, though remodeled once by us, was still small and uninviting.
