Country garden style flower borders with a mixture of trees, shrubs and perennials helps to create colour and interest throughout the year.
The flower borders line up with the axis from the main terrace out from the house. This axis then includes a corten steel water feature and a Lutyens style wooden bench

Lush grass paired with a circular bed of shrubs, bushes, and trees ensure that there is always color, texture, and interesting elements to enjoy.
Accent Landscapes
A blend of native grasses and wildflowers brought to life this bright and beautiful front yard space. In addition to looking great, this area is low maintenance and water friendly.

The front garden for an innovative property in Fulham Cemetery - the house featured on Channel 4's Grand Designs in January 2021. The design had to enhance the relationship with the bold, contemporary architecture and open up a dialogue with the wild green space beyond its boundaries. Seen here in the height of summer, this space is an immersive walk through a naturalistic and pollinator rich planting scheme.

These yellow and magenta colored daisy-like flowers are the hardy ice plant. Originally native to South Africa, this succulent is perfect for rock gardens and garden bed borders.

Donald Pell - Gardens
Set against the superb modernist architecture of Moto Designshop, and within the existing COR-TEN steel rain troughs by Studio | Bryan Hanes, this terraced garden frames and maximizes views from the rear facade to the pond below.
The garden design focused on verging wild, intermingled plant communities with the floor-to-ceiling windows of the family's living space to provide ongoing seasonal interest and visual diversity. Working closely with agronomists, aggregate substrates, calcium and humates were incorporated to ensure adequate drainage and soil health. Rapid stabilization of the very wet, narrow spaces was achieved with freely seeding Eupatorium coelestinum and plantings of stoloniferous and rhizomatous plants, such as Carex muskingumensis and Iris fulva, among cespitose clumps.
The Natural Garden
We call these gardens "living landscapes" because the native plants they contain seed off and change locations from year to year in a dynamic, dramatic show. The gardener becomes audience, director, and dramaturge--all in one--rather than one who tightly controls the results.
(What is a dramaturge, one might ask if their friends are not in the theater?) Oxford languages explains: "1. a dramatist.
2. a literary editor on the staff of a theater who consults with authors and edits texts."
In living landscapes, the native plants become a sort of text which the gardener edits in order to shape the unfolding drama for the current and next season. The gardener chooses where to pull back overly assertive plants, when to nudge forward the under-confident actor waiting to shine, when to let the mystery unfold and surprise. It is not laissez-faire or "what will be will be"--rather, it is an ongoing movement rooted in observation and reflection. This is the living landscape we strive to design and build at The Natural Garden.

A bed of native plants and flowers surrounds and shades a sunny wall. The neatly mown lawn, despite its tidy appearance, isn't treated with fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides; it consists of whatever happens to grow there, clipped short, and is much more eco-friendly and low-maintenance than traditional lawn.
