California Waterscapes
Welcome to our design space at the Pasadena Showcase House of Design. This “oasis” features a beautiful collection of koi fish, gracefully swimming in a 5’x8’ pond.
Our modern, clean-cut paver patio is customized to intertwine with large seating boulders. By bringing the pathway right to the edge of the pond, we showcase our favorite cantilever effect. Softening the design, California-friendly plants and a stunning live plant wall surrounds the area, while lights can be seen hanging from the trees, extending the ambiance into the evening hours.

FiveSTAR Landscape
We wanted to create a serene and authentic Japanese-inspired patio and side yard space where Zen philosophy comes to life. With careful arrangement of rocks to evoke balance and contemplation, and an artfully crafted A/C screen for privacy without compromising aesthetics, we ensured a harmonious design. By incorporating native plants, we honored the natural beauty of the region. With minimalist aesthetics and the use of natural materials, this tranquil space serves as a sanctuary for reflection and rejuvenation.

This is how the spa room looks at night! Notice the "starburst" effect created by Swarovski crystals placed at the ends of fiber-optic lighting.
Sweet Smiling Landscapes
When this homeowner’s neighbor removed two, two- story-high Ficus trees, her side-yard became baron and sunbaked. Concrete covers virtually the whole area from the house to the property line, but because the side-yard has a lot of foot traffic and serves as a sitting area to the basement apartment, the owner did not want to remove any of the concrete. The solution was to put up fencing to block the view of the neighbor’s house, then upcycle wine barrels and 55-gallon drums into huge planters. The drums are large enough to accommodate a full-sized tree and provide the added advantage of giving height to smaller trees to provide further screening of the neighbor’s house. Everything was painted in bright colors to give the space a cheery Caribbean feel. The neighbor’s tree removal ended up as a blessing in disguise, because what had been a drab trough-way was transformed into a happy patio.
