The kitchen and family room are in the portion of the home that was part of an addition by the previous homeowners, which was enclosed and had a very low ceiling. We removed and reframed the roof of the addition portion to vault the ceiling. Two sets of glass French doors bring in a wealth of natural light. The family room features a neutral mid-century sectional, reclaimed wood and lacquer furniture, and colorful accents. The painting by local artist Danika Ostrowski is a nod to the client's love of the desert and Big Bend National Park.

Cet appartement est le résultat d'un plateau traversant, divisé en deux pour y implanter 2 studios de 20m2 chacun. L'espace étant très restreint, il a fallut cloisonner de manière astucieuse chaque pièce. La cuisine vient alors s'intégrer tout en longueur dans le couloir et s'adosser à la pièce d'eau. Nous avons disposé le salon sous pentes, là ou il y a le plus de luminosité. Pour palier à la hauteur sous plafond limitée, nous y avons intégré de nombreux placards de rangements. D'un côté et de l'autre de ce salon, nous avons conservé les deux foyers de cheminée que nous avons décidé de révéler et valoriser.

If you’re lucky enough to have more than one reception room then you have a bit more freedom when deciding what to do with your secondary space. Families with children or just young-at-heart adults could opt for a family room or games room; whether it’s a pool or snooker table room, a comfy relaxation or TV area, a video games haven, a playroom packed with toys or a sports room with accompanying bar. Usually games rooms are naturally fun, recreational spaces so it’s important that the furnishings are functional but enjoyable with an emphasis on comfort, storage, games and entertainment.
