This mudroom was part of a large addition that connected the previously detached garage to the house. It included a powder room and laundry as well as a large L shaped lockers and bench. Additional storage is included in the form of a traditional reach in closet. Loads of countertop space and upper cabinetry make this one of the most functional mudrooms we've done!

romero + obeji interior design
The foyer of this residence has very tall ceilings and a very open feel but combined with the tile floors it was also a bit cold. The Hector Romero design team created a truly welcoming spot with a large watercolor evoking the outdoors and the bench was a really exciting find – its heavy plank rustic seat has a live edge and the base is a remarkable Japanese woodworking style with three legs. This functional spot sets the tone for the hospitality within home. More images on our website: http://www.romero-obeji-interiordesign.com

The existing trim around the original front door was very small in scale, especially next to their other thicker door trim throughout the rest of the house. We installed all new millwork and trim through the entire room so it matched not just each other, but the scale of the space.

Mudroom off the garage has hooks for coats and shopping bags. Instead of balancing on one leg with your boot in hand, relax and take off your mucky boots resting on the built-in bench.

The doorway to the beautiful backyard in the lower level was designed with a small, but very handy staging area to accommodate the transition from indoors to out. This custom home was designed and built by Meadowlark Design+Build in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Photography by Joshua Caldwell.

The architecture of this mid-century ranch in Portland’s West Hills oozes modernism’s core values. We wanted to focus on areas of the home that didn’t maximize the architectural beauty. The Client—a family of three, with Lucy the Great Dane, wanted to improve what was existing and update the kitchen and Jack and Jill Bathrooms, add some cool storage solutions and generally revamp the house.
We totally reimagined the entry to provide a “wow” moment for all to enjoy whilst entering the property. A giant pivot door was used to replace the dated solid wood door and side light.
We designed and built new open cabinetry in the kitchen allowing for more light in what was a dark spot. The kitchen got a makeover by reconfiguring the key elements and new concrete flooring, new stove, hood, bar, counter top, and a new lighting plan.
Our work on the Humphrey House was featured in Dwell Magazine.
