Fiorito Interior DesignFinding a home is not easy in a seller’s market, but when my clients discovered one—even though it needed a bit of work—in a beautiful area of the Santa Cruz Mountains, they decided to jump in. Surrounded by old-growth redwood trees and a sense of old-time history, the house’s location informed the design brief for their desired remodel work. Yet I needed to balance this with my client’s preference for clean-lined, modern style.
Suffering from a previous remodel, the galley-like bathroom in the master suite was long and dank. My clients were willing to completely redesign the layout of the suite, so the bathroom became the walk-in closet. We borrowed space from the bedroom to create a new, larger master bathroom which now includes a separate tub and shower.
The look of the room nods to nature with organic elements like a pebbled shower floor and vertical accent tiles of honed green slate. A custom vanity of blue weathered wood and a ceiling that recalls the look of pressed tin evoke a time long ago when people settled this mountain region. At the same time, the hardware in the room looks to the future with sleek, modular shapes in a chic matte black finish. Harmonious, serene, with personality: just what my clients wanted.

Courtney Thomas DesignWe planned a thoughtful redesign of this beautiful home while retaining many of the existing features. We wanted this house to feel the immediacy of its environment. So we carried the exterior front entry style into the interiors, too, as a way to bring the beautiful outdoors in. In addition, we added patios to all the bedrooms to make them feel much bigger. Luckily for us, our temperate California climate makes it possible for the patios to be used consistently throughout the year.
The original kitchen design did not have exposed beams, but we decided to replicate the motif of the 30" living room beams in the kitchen as well, making it one of our favorite details of the house. To make the kitchen more functional, we added a second island allowing us to separate kitchen tasks. The sink island works as a food prep area, and the bar island is for mail, crafts, and quick snacks.
We designed the primary bedroom as a relaxation sanctuary – something we highly recommend to all parents. It features some of our favorite things: a cognac leather reading chair next to a fireplace, Scottish plaid fabrics, a vegetable dye rug, art from our favorite cities, and goofy portraits of the kids.

Citizen Design Co.Changing the size of the tile from the glass enclosed tub/ shower to the rest of this Master Suite allowed us to create a seamless transition between the two. His + her's vanities complete with a central make up station, stunning brass tub filler, separate toilet room and sliding barn doors, this ensuite mixes clean + crisp lines with soft, warm tones for the perfect balance.
UserTucked into the corner of the wet room space stands a white freestanding tub with modern polished nickel fixtures. The tub sits atop a textured basket weave floor tile that adds textural interest to the light and bright space. A Blues quartzite-topped vanity melds shades of blue, grey, and taupe, while the luxe vanity stool is covered in a blue-grey fabric and accented with nickel nails. A gold-framed mirror adds a glam touch to this transitional yet glamorous master bath.

Margery Wedderburn InteriorsWe love designing resorts and beach homes! So when this wonderful Vero Beach, Florida project came along, we donned our thinking caps and immediately got to work! Our clients wanted this breezy second home to be a comfortable haven, perfect for those long lazy summer days or weekend getaways. We designed a warm, welcoming style plan and combined old and new treasures to create an ever-lived-in home. A neutral color palette creates a soothing environment and acts as a fresh canvas to add attractive nautical-themed decor. A beautiful medley of ocean blue accents throughout the house completes the ultimate beach house ambience. This project was managed by our Orlando location.

If your bathroom is a small space in your home where you don’t spend much time, it’s time to think about alternatives. However, if you’ve dreamt of a roll-top bath or a walk-in shower with heating at, then you might want to take longer looking for each item individually. Choosing all white elements will obviously tie everything together, but also think about the style you’re going for – ultra modern taps will clash with traditional Victorian-style wash basins. And it’s probably good to consider your flooring or surfaces, and walls to make sure everything will complement. Selecting bathroom decor such as cabinets, mirrors, shelves or other furniture for bathrooms can be tricky. You want to consider the storage they offer while also making sure they make an attractive feature as you enter your bathroom. Don’t forget you need them to be durable and withstand the damp conditions, e.g. if you’re going for a painted cabinet make sure the paint is suitable for baths. For medicine cabinets you will find most have mirrored fronts, but you can find extra features such as clocks and shaving sockets built-in.What bathroom storage ideas should I look at?
While bathroom storage ideas is not the first thing you think of when it comes to bathrooms, you’ll be surprised at how much difference it makes when your bathroom is organised – specially if you’re dealing with a small bathroom, this is essential. After you’ve made sure your light fittings are safe and to-code, you can consider the type and style you’d like as your working through your bathroom ideas. When it comes to flooring, tiles will be durable, easy to clean and deal well with water, but if you want something different you could go with modern concrete, traditional or country-style treated wooden floorboards, or a bit more quirky bamboo, cork or vinyl. The best small bathroom ideas will maximise the space you have. From installing a bidet to simple decorative tips there are plenty of things you can do to make it look bigger. Recessed shelves can make a huge difference both visually and practically to small bathrooms, so if you are able to have these installed when your walls are being renovated you could add some to your shower or sink area. You could choose pale colours and iridescent tiles that reflect the light, keep walls and ceilings the same colour and texture, and use complementary shades throughout the bathroom– fewer contrasts and transitions will help maintain the sense of space. Floating bathroom units also draw the eye to visible floor space underneath them, and clear glass shower screens will keep the room feeling open and airy. Finishing touches like artfully placed large mirrors will also make small bathrooms appear more expansive.9
